I've heard a lot of good things about NFL teasers and am going to try to play more of them.
I tried one as one of my plays yesterday and it worked perfectly, as I had the Bears (easy winner) and the Bills (lost by 7, but teased to +9.5).
Any tips are welcome, but I guess generally the strongest teasers are when you can cross 3 and 7? Like -8 to -2 or +1.5 to +7.5, etc?
General rule is to make sure to tease across 2 key numbers. +1 to +7.5 goes across 3 and 7, -15 to -8.5 goes across 14 and 10 (obviously these are key #s to a lesser extent), but you get the picture. I usually look for +1.5 to +2.5 dogs to tease up and -7.5 to -9 favorites to tease down.
Other general rule is to never tease across zero (a -3 favorite to a +3.5 dog), you are giving up value by crossing zero.
This works much better in the NFL than it does in college because the scores are typically more predictably close to the spread in the NFL.
I also like to try to tease games with lower totals. Logic there is if a game is expected to be low-scoring then points are at a bigger premium and the points you get from teasing have more intrinsic value.
A +2.5 point dog in a game where the total is 40, for example, is a prime candidate.
