So my dad calls me today to tell me he chipped in from the fairway on a par 4 to make eagle today. My father also had a hole-in-one about 8 years back. He claims this was more satisfying and we got to conversing about it, and he swears up and down that an eagle on a par 4 is RARER than a hole in one.
This is an absurd claim. First off there are far more par 4s on the course so more opportunities to do it. Then you have par 4's that are reachable by big hitters. EVEN WITH THOSE TWO THINGS ASIDE I think he's wrong.
He bet me $100 that eagles on par 4s are rarer than hole in ones on par 3s (we also had another argument about whether a hole in one on a par 3 is actually an eagle, an argument I won).
I can't find the stats anywhere can someone help me substantiate this claim? I'm not gonna take the old man's money it's just about pride now.
