What's up with these college teams going for 2pt conversion early in the game?

I can see Oregon doing it but Auburn and Miss St. just went for 2 on their first possession, both not getting it. Doesn't make sense to me...Especially for Miss St, instead of tying the game vs LSU...Now you give back the momentum before you even give the ball back.

Auburn went for 2 on the 1st TD of game.

Coaches overthinking?

I think some statistics show that is the +ev play. Not sure, but I would guess that is why

Stopping a 2pt play gives momentum? Sheesh stop listening to the media... momentum is the most overrated nonsense in sports

you can't be serious?

I guess you never played sports. Momentum is very real and when a team like Miss State could tie the game and instead is still losing it factors mentally on LSU sidelines as well as Miss State, at the very least, short term.

Saying momentum is overrated nonsense in sports is just plain stupid to say.

What is stupid to say is that a 2pt conversion is a momentum swing. If you think momentum is real that is fine, its a bad opinion but its fine... but to think a 2pt play is a swinger is just ridiculous. I have played sports my entire life... not sure what that has to do with a momentum argument, but anyways you can go on believing momentum is a factor but there are a lot of studies out there that prove otherwise.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree..

If it's not a momentum swing, why the hell would the coach go for it?

It's psychological momentum IMO.

He felt he could get an extra point... has nothing to do with momentum
