How has being a gambler changed you? Like affected your personality and who you are in general?

Not sure about you guys, but I feel like the wins are more of a relief and the losses are infuriating. Not many real "highs" after wins. This must be what heroin addicts feel like, chasing the big high that comes maybe once a year if at all.

I lost my general sense of money's value.

For example.. $100 holds very little value to me. If I went to a casino and walked away up $100, it's the same as even. I generally need to walk away up "a new tv" to feel it. $500 bucks feels good. Anything less seems like a waste of my time.

$100 used to mean something to me. Not anymore

I agree with you 100%...I remember when a 20 dollar bill was a good size bet for me...

Betting on sports has been a 11 year journey that has had many highs and many lows. I've found out things about myself that I didn't know were true. Ultimately, it's been great training ground mentally to venture out into other markets of speculation. I think it's a good 5 year learning curve at least to learn about finding an edge and betting with discipline. I sure wouldn't advise anyone to ever start speculating in any form, but for me it's something I've always had a passion for. Betting has made me be much less of a fan and much more in tune with the reality that fans are suckers. Your team wins the title and it means nothing in 5 minutes. Your team loses and you are sad for much longer. Who cares about any of it? It's all about money, or just enjoying the game. Either way, you have to forget about wins and losses immediately afterwards, and it takes a long time to be able to do this. I love speculation of all kinds and wouldn't want to live my life any other way. But it's not for most people.

If I remember correctly.. you're orig. from philly ? Orig from Delaware County here (moved to Ca 15 yrs ago). They have a casino in Chester now. I am guessing our old blue collar city has some families upside down as a result.

I'm visiting some friends/family in Phoenix this weekend. Yesterday, I couldn't understand that the people we were staying with didnt get every game. I needed to watch the Indy/Seattle game and no one understood why. So I took a friend to the sports bar while everyone else stayed at the house and watched NE/cincy. So yeah, gambling has made me an asshole.

Has made me just a fan of my home teams instead of a diehard. Winning bets are far more important then my team winning.
