I agree, I saw two calls overturned yesterday where the evidence was far far far from "conclusive". Nobody could see his hands were not under the ball on any replay.
even the Ohio St TD, usually they argue they can't tell the difference on a matter of inches, especially if the camera angle was not directly down the goal line.
It was clear the ball hit the ground from the back angle. That being said, I had no idea if it was going to be overturned or not. There is no consistency in replay. I was fairly shocked they overturned the Tennessee TD, even though that was obvious. SEC replay officials almost never overturn anything.
From the back angle you can see it bounce. It definitely wasn't a clean catch, and I thought the replay official was right in saying that it was indisputable. But flip a coin on most replays.I don't think it was so clear, where were his hands? his hands could have been cradled under the ball as they appear to be from the other angle
I agree it looked like the ball bounced, but it could have bounced up off his hands
Nah, man. I was rooting for Washington to win the game, and had no money on it. I kinda wanted to agree with the announcers and say that it couldn't be overturned. But after the second time watching the replay, it was obvious to me that it wasn't a catch. The ball hit the ground without control. It was definitely NOT clear if that ball bounced or not. You could SEE the ball from the back angle, but that does not mean it hit the ground or wasnt being controlled by his hands. If his hands are on it, it is ok for it to touch the ground. Anybody who says that play was definitive based on the replay is completely biased. If the ruling on the field was that it was incomplete, replay couldnt have been ruled completed either. Totally inconclusive. That play should have stayed as called on field regardless of what the call was.
The OSU TD crossed by 5-6 inches. It was not close.
The WA ball bounced. If you could not see that get a bigger TV (on 70 inches it was clear, on 42 inches it was not). Now I do wonder how they could see it on their tiny monitors.
Also note Stanford and OSU are more important to the Big 10 and Pac than NW or WA
