Has probably has the weakest arm for a starting QB in the NFL at this point.
Name one starting QB who has a weaker arm then Manning right now?

His throws are wobbly and ugly.
No zip on his passes.
But his knowledge of the game and the talent surrounding him makes up for all those problems.

If he had the physical ability now that he had 5 years ago I would not be able to comprehend what he would be doing right now.

This is by far the most talented team he has ever played on.

But all this talk about him being better now then ever is not true IMO.
He is on the best team he ever played on. He is having the best season stats wise he ever had but he is not 50% of the QB physically he used to be.

It reminds me exactly of John Elway's last 2 seasons in Denver.

Elway had one of the best career's in NFL history but never won a single Super Bowl until his last 2 seasons.

IMO the 2 years he won the Super Bowl's were his worst 2 seasons as a starting QB in his career.

He was loaded with talent those 2 years.

Give it to 2000 yard rusher T Davis.
Pass it to R Smith and S Sharpe. Win the game.

Absolutely.
This is not a bash Peyton Manning thread.
I would take him over just about anyone right now on a great team.

Let me put it like this:

If Manning played for the current Indy Colts Luck would would do a better job for the current Colts then Manning would.
Manning would do a better job for the current Broncos then Luck would.

Manning can make a good team great but he cant make an average team good.

Manning is playing a 90% mental game right now.
Has almost no physical skills left.

Probably has less physical skill at this point then any other QB in the NFL.

Saying this is his best team or most talented, however you want to phrase it, by far is a stretch. He played on some pretty good Colt teams including 2005 when they probably would have gone 16-0 if they didn't sit their starters the last 2 games and then won Super Bowl with 2006 team. So, this isn't "by far" his best team he has ever played for. It may be better to some but not "by far" as you put it.

My mistake, it was 2009 when they won 14 straight to start season and then say starters last 2 games to finish 14-2. But they did win 13 straight to start season in 2005.

.

Peyton would certainly make an average team good...are you serious?

Put him on any of your NFL ranking teams #15-25 and they would Jump at least 5 spots instantly, if not more.

agree he is not as physically talented as he used to be...i see the wobbly throws but they get there. I think his arm is more than enough.....after a certain strength, the differences are marginal....(i.e. the strongest arm vs 12th strongest arm equates to minimal difference on the field even provided all other factors equal)....I think peyton get enough zip and can throw it deep enough.

the biggest thing for me is his mental game goes down a bunch in the playoffs....i think it has more to do with defensive preparations than him "choking" but I want to see how his crazy audibles match up vs playoff preparations in his "career season"

announcers are constantly saying how well he is throwing the ball, how strong his arm looks
yet the passes wobble and flutter, the one long ball yesterday was a pop fly for an ez interception
do they really think we dont notice?

but he did "rumble" in for a touchdown against dallas:missingte

Yes, NFL archives claim that his bootleg was identical in yds/second as the last time he scored on a bootleg more than 5 years ago. Hasn't lost a beat with his foot speed.

His arm today is better than Montana's at his peak. Throwing on time and where to throw it are more important than a cannon. Just ask Ryan Leaf. Montana was set and ready to throw quicker before any QB then or since. I just love the fact that if you put Montana, Manning, Brady, Leaf, Jamarcus Russell, and Cam Newton all at the scouting combine at the same time they would have went Russell, Newton, Leaf, Manning, Montana, and Brady. Lots more than physical talent goes into that position.

Dude's never been physically gifted and has never had a great team, including this year. He's just smarter than everyone. The broncos have a banged up o line, below average running game, d-Thomas, and an aging welker. And defensively they have a bunch of holes. Manning just uses loft and foot position along with defensive positioning to exploit any weakness. Brees is similar but he is bit more accurate and a bit worse at reading defenses, IMO.

I thought this was hilarious as well. Look at his numbers, he is completing 75% of his passes and has a 136 QB rating. He has always been a finess QB who cares if he doesn't have any zip on his passes. He doesn't need to. Greg Maddux didn't have a blazing fastball but he didn't need to. He was smarter then the batters were.

With Clady at tackle I'd say this is easily his most talented offensive team. However he is out for the year...

This is NOT Manning's most talented team....Cmon Chop....

I think he had 1 comparable team on offense

The Harrison,Wayne,Stokley,Clark team.

The rest of them not as talented

Peyton is the best quarterback in the NFL today, and has been for most of his career.
