yeah this is my 1st one of any significance...deadwood tournaments pretty much suck but ill finally be playing this one...u can enter all 6 flights but u can only take the highest chip count from any flight...im playing the last flight on Saturday...since that will be last flight to advance to sunday I think some people will play a little too cautious...it also should have a few rebuyers on their last chance...hopefully ill be able to take advantage of that...we will see

finished 259th in 100k...never have I remembered ever being so card dead in any kind of tourney...during the 1st 2 levels I did get queens 1st to act which I didn't like...lots of preflop raising and reraising on this table...so I just called 120 bb but ended up calling a middle positioners 500 raise with button and bb...flop came with an ace...bb and I checked middle position made continuation bet and button reraised...easy fold there...had pocket jacks another time 3rd to act...2nd seat small raise...im not a big fan of reraising with queens or jacks so I call...reraise from middle, a call from late...both blinds fold...2nd seat calls reraise as do I...was hoping to spike a jack...really didn't want my pair to be over to the board...a lot of these players like to reraise with a/k or a/q and call off their chips on baby flops hoping they have overcards for turn and river...I don't necessarily agree with that strategy in the early level but to each his own...anyway board came with 2 overs...2nd seat and I check as does middle...late position bets out only to get reraised by 2nd seat...another easy fold...just no traction whatsoever in this tourney...I won 2 out of 99 pots...once or twice I raised the pot with a/j and k/10 1st to act from middle but got played with by a few players and flopped absolutely nothing...was down to about 4500 from 10k original stack...got 10's in sb...3 callers to bb so I raised hoping to take down pot...button called and my tens were overpair to board with 2 diamonds which I knew was good at moment...I checked to button who bet I pushed in and got called...he had j/10 diamonds and caught the flush on turn...busto...guess ill try the 100k again November 10th

5dimes is also having a 150k main event November 24th...checked the structure and not a big fan of it...20 levels to reenter...that's crazy...usually 12 levels and its done plus blinds are still 15 minutes...im not a big fan of quick blind time limits in these larger tourneys 50k and above...they should set the buyin a little higher and blind limits at least for 30 min imo

Yea that late registration drives me nuts. Ive quit playing them for now cus im tilted from the 1st hand. To me, and this is being argued at all the internet forums, it gives a huge advantage to players with big enough bankrolls to really gamble it up....The exact opposite of me! They can buy-in just like its a rebuy while low bankroll guys like me just have to sit there and wait for hands. Then when ur getting to the middle stages you have players coming in with 10BB's and your looking for spots to pick up chips but you have these shorties looking to shove any 2 cards. Yes i know you want that normally but not when ur trying to steal a pot here or there.
Maybe....read probably....i just dont have the strategy down to play these tournys and im fooling myself by blaming it on not having the bankroll. Maybe....But i doubt it.
I have yet to see a legit argument that these late re-entry tournys dont cause higher variance....And i doubt i will. Bu the sites want to advertise bigger and bigger guarantees and there is no other way to get there with the limited amount of players available since Black Friday. I havent entered 1 in awhile now and unless i manage to win a cheap satty i prolly wont be playing them anytime soon.

I feel almost the same way about the BEAST promo in cash games. It favors the guys who have the bankroll to open 10 tables and nit it up at all 10. While guys like me open 1 table and cant get any action cus im sitting there playing with over half a table of Beast chasing nits. The rake plus BBJ plus Beast takeout makes the games unprofitable for all but say the Top 7 or so people in the beast race. Its just dumb.

Yeah, you should take this down. Friday and Saturday were good to play at that time there are more players. I also select weekends to play.
