Car was stolen over the weekend. I was in a bad situation before that; no savings, big time credit card debt. I had a job but I was let go on Monday because of the whole car incident. I am an addict and am bipolar. I went into a store and a so called friend took off with my car. I don't have comprehensive or rental on my insurance so I am screwed. No money, no credit cards, no driver's license, no job. My dad is willing to help but who knows how long that will last for. Most likely they will not let me renew my lease because I cannot verify employment. My phone was taken as well. My older brother has had it as well and he lives 45 minutes from me. No family member will let me stay with them. I have a big heart but the addiction issues and bipolar disease have messed my entire life up. I can file for UI but that takes 4 to 6 weeks with a phone which I don't have. Disability takes 6 months to 2 years. So what do I do? Trust me after living on the streets for two days I never want to live like that again. First thing I can do is get a license, rent a car and figure out what I need to do to track down my car. My father is my only life line, my mother hates me and my brother is done. I have a 4 year degree from a good school and made well over $100,000 a few times in my life. I am single. Any ideas? I am not bullshitting anyone here.

Find your local Salvation Army. Stay there for now.

Get sober and get on your meds and take them as prescribed. STAY SOBER AND STAY ON YOUR MEDS. Easier said than done I know but this sounds like maybe it's your bottom.

Get help; go to AA meetings; reach out to the community there are a lot of free resources out there. I have seen many a men get their lives back from this type of situation, trust me. You just have to put one foot in front of the other here.

I am in my place for another 17 days. Like I said about to be homeless. I was homeless for two days walking around in the Florida heat. Gave out to heat stroke and dehydration. Was in the hospital for a day. Like I said being out there opened my eyes. Homeless...f u. No insurance...f u. My life went from below average to crap in 24 hours.

"Figure out how to track down your car?"

It was stolen man, report that shit to the police. I know you don't have a license but I'd rather have my car back and a ticket than no car...

STAY SOBER

You have 17 days to find employment my friend. Spend 12 hours a day going everywhere you possibly can. Who cares if you have to stock shelves at a grocery store or flip burgers right now, you gotta do what you gotta do. STAY SOBER. You need a tourniquet to stop the bleeding for now, so STAY SOBER and find a job, one that you can walk to. Don't miss a day and STAY SOBER.

Get your car back with the help of the police. Get your license. Once you've got some sobriety under your belt and you're on your meds for awhile start looking for better employment. But for now no one is gonna feel sorry for you about being potentially broke/homeless when all you're doing about it is posting on the RX. Go find a job.

Regardless of what happens I still stand by my advice above. Arrange something with the Salvation Army to try to move in there when you lose your place. You can still work while you stay there. It takes time but you can rebuild but it takes hard work and a willingness to stay sober...see the recurring theme here?

How about putting in some job apps????

If you have to start at the bottom. You have 17 days, you get enough to rent a room on Craigslist.

Use that security deposit refund.

wait, you're parents are millionaires but you're asking for a dollar on here through pay pal?

Why don't you go talk with your dad instead of strangers on a gambling forum? Seriously.

Car was stolen by a firend?? That's not a friend.....

Need $50 to get your keys? Car keys?? Tell him you have the $50... call the police and have him meet you somewhere, and when the police show up you get your keys back with no $$ involved.

Asking people to send you money on here thru PP? I can understand it, but there are better ways to get money other then a handout from strangers.

I know that many guys here have hit rock bottom in the past. We relied on family and friends to help us out. But it seems that you cant, because am I right in assuming that you have "burned" them way to many times?

And it seems that your not taking responsibility for what happened... the first step is realizing your mistakes and fixing them. Like your "friend"... meet him and have him arrested. FIX that problem, so what if he hates you, he isn't a friend or someone you want in your life anyways.

What kind of job fires you after missing 1 day of work? Seems to be more issues before that to cause them to fire you. FIX THAT PROBLEM on your next job.

Look in the mirror and realize that its your life, and you need to fix it... asking strangers on a gambling forum for a Band-Aid to get you thru this temporarily isn't going to fix it. You need to seek help from yourself. EVERY poster on this forum could send you $1, and in 30 days you would be right back in the same situation. Whats $50 going to do? Buy you a day? a Week? it isn't worth the investment, throwing money away down the drain, even if it is $1.

Fix the problems, instead of just trying to cover it up for a moment, only to have the same problems rise up over and over again.

BE STRONG MAN!!! Kick yourself in the ass, look yourself in the eye, and tell yourself you are better then this.

We cant help you, cause it seems your family has tried numerous times to no avail, so whats going to be different for us?? We aren't even family...

Man up, accept responsibility and start cleaning up the mess. Firstly with getting the police involved and getting your keys back

Us "helping" you through the situation by giving you money only allows you to carry on for a little while longer under the illusion that your life in manageable. It is not the long term fix and no one here is going to believe that $50 is gonna be the bridge you need to get yourself to a better place to make those long term changes. It will just allow you to delay the inevitable admission that your life is shit now and you have to do something about it.

Many here know I have a soft spot for alcoholics and addicts; I myself have recovered from a seemingly hopeless state of mind and body. But all those times my parents lent me money, my friends bailed me out, my brother paid off my bookie...those things didn't help, they hurt because they allowed me to think to myself "I got this now" and it was just a matter of time til I was in the same shit situation or worse. So I don't mean to come off as harsh but that is reality.
