I may be in the minority here but if it was my young son or daughter, I wouldn't be playing in any football game for awhile....but I guess everyone handles grief or adversity in different ways....

No you're probably in the majority for sure, BUT, everyone handles grief differently. Apparently he's numerous tragedies in his life and football has always been an escape and relief mechanism for him. To each his own I guess. Definitely a sad story. I'd be going bonkers if that was my kid.

Does he even care?

There are plenty of absentee fathers, who couldnt care less.

Now I have no idea if he is one of them or not

I wouldn't be able to play if it was my daughter.........not saying it makes it any easier, cause fortunately I don't know, but didn't Peterson just find out about this son not too long ago?

I can't believe he is going to play, but I don't know the particulars of how long he has been in his life etc. Hits hard because it happened very close to me. There was a prayer vigil just down the street from me. All seems very surreal. Horrible crime.

I am not diverting the proper attention and respect from a childs lost life... but in looking at AP playing this game... from a sports perspective.. he wil be playing on another level. We may see a performance of a lifetime.

I kind of thought the same thing. I read he did not learn he was the childs father until recently, which means he must of not had much of a relationship with him in his short 2 years of life. Tuff to say how hard he is really taking everything

He needs to stay busy with his foots duties. There's not much he can do about his son at this point. His emotional support will come from the Vikings organization. My prayers are with his family.

Of course nothing can be confirmed, but i'm hearing he recently (not sure what that means 3 mos - 8 mos) found out he was this kid's father.

Very sad no doubt, but he may not have that bond that a parent raising their kid may have in a situation like this if that's the case.

i think this is way different than one where the kid either lives with him or is constantly in his life.

he may have only spent a little bit of time around this kid. he lived in south dakota.

hope the killer is beaten to death in jail.

ADRIAN PETERSON
MET SON FOR 1ST TIME IN HOSPITAL

EXCLUSIVE
1012-getty-adrian-peterson-3.jpg

Adrian Peterson only recently learned he was the father of a 2-year-old boy in South Dakota ... and met him for the first time Thursday ... while the boy was on life support, TMZ has learned.

Multiple sources connected to the situation tell us ... roughly 2-3 months ago, the mother of the child had a paternity test done with an ex she suspected to be the father, in an effort to collect child support from him.

But the test turned up negative, so the woman went to Adrian ... with whom she had a sexual encounter several years ago.

We're told ... when Adrian was first informed about the matter, he didn't question the possibility he was the dad -- but rather asked how he could help the situation.

Sources tell us ... a few weeks ago, A.P. started to plan a trip to South Dakota to meet the child for the first time and he was supposed to fly out later this month.

But when he heard the news about the attack on the 2-year-old, Peterson dropped everything and jetted over to Sioux Falls as soon as he could.

We're told Adrian met the child for the first time while the boy was on life support.

Multiple sources tell us ... Adrian has been very involved since the tragedy and was the one pushing the have the child's organs donated to other people in need of a transplant.

As for the suspect, Joey Patterson, we're told Adrian has never met the guy.

We reached out to Adrian and the mother of the child for comment -- so far, no word back from either side.

He won't play so the PC crowd can say he cares for his kid.
But then again when are some these guys ashamed of anything anyway.
