The NFL is looking into another Ndamukong Suh hit on a quarterback.

In a video on NFLEvolution.com showing the behind the scenes process of how the league looks at potential fines, one of the plays mentioned by vice president of officiating Dean Blandino is a hit by Suh on Cleveland quarterback Brandon Weeden this past Sunday.

Suh is subject to a potential fine, but a suspension won't be considered, a league source told ESPN's Ed Werder.
The league looking into the play was first reported by Pro Football Talk.

"No. 90 hit the quarterback, lowered his head, that was not called," Blandino said in the video. "Potential helmet to the body."

Suh, who was fined $100,000 earlier this season for a low block on Minnesota center John Sullivan, was not flagged on the play.

Suh has been fined previously in his career for hits on quarterbacks Jake Delhomme, Jay Cutler, Matt Schaub and Cincinnati's Andy Dalton, who the Lions face Sunday.

Information from ESPN's Ed Werder was used in this report.

The NFL should start upping those fines to the $300k range and then give half of the fine to the other player involved.

Just around the corner, fellas. Soccer will be the new American sport. You have to be a throbbing vagina if you think "this" hit is wrong. This is all about reputation. At least the SEC still has balls and is letting these guys play. The NFL and the rest of college football are the biggest pussies.

Jesus. I've been hearing this soccer BS for 15-20 years now. That and the metric system. Soccer is the biggest pussy sport there is with the guys falling over like they've shot every two minutes. That will never go over here.

Soccer, the third world sport. Yeah, I can see it coming with the US becoming more of a third world country.

ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) — Ndamukong Suh has been fined by the NFL. </SPAN></SPAN>
Again. </SPAN></SPAN>
The Detroit Lions defensive tackle was docked $31,500 by the league for a hit on Cleveland Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden, a person familiar with the decision told The Associated Press. The person spoke Wednesday on condition of anonymity because the fine had not been announced. </SPAN></SPAN>
Suh insisted earlier in the day he was unaware the NFL was reviewing his actions during Sunday’s game, but acknowledged being used to the scrutiny. </SPAN></SPAN>
“I think there is always going to be a microscope on me,” he said. “I think there has been a microscope on me since I was first drafted.” </SPAN></SPAN>
Since Detroit selected Suh No. 2 overall in 2010, he has been fined seven times for more than $200,000. He lost $165,294 in pay during a two-game suspension in his second season for stomping on the right arm of Green Bay’s Evan Dietrich-Smith. </SPAN></SPAN>
Earlier this season, Suh was docked $100,000 for an illegal block on Minnesota center John Sullivan in Week 1 during an interception return. He lost an appeal last week, upholding the largest fine in NFL history for on-field conduct, not counting suspensions. </SPAN></SPAN>
Suh wasn’t penalized for his latest act that drew discipline, but it was shown on a video posted on NFL.com as vice president of officiating Dean Blandino said he wanted to look at it more for “potential helmet to the body.” </SPAN></SPAN>
Lions center Dominic Raiola — perhaps Suh’s most vocal supporter — saw Suh’s hit on Weeden after he threw a pass and said it was “ridiculous” that the league was even considering discipline. </SPAN></SPAN>
“The guy is violent, football is a violent game,” Raiola said. “I don’t think you can ever make hitting somebody soft.” </SPAN></SPAN>
Raiola noted the officials had a better view, and didn’t throw a flag. </SPAN></SPAN>
“They were right there,” Raiola recalled. “It was a football play, to me. But I guess maybe my view of football now is different than the way football is viewed now. I really don’t know what they’re looking at.” </SPAN></SPAN>
Suh knows the league is looking at everything he does, saying nothing in life is fair, but said it won’t make him want to leave the game. </SPAN></SPAN>
“Not everything is going to go your way in life,” he said. “I understood that and grew up that way. It’s just like for me, I wanted a Nintendo 64 when I was little and my mom said, ‘No.’ I had to deal with it.” </SPAN></SPAN>
And, now the Cincinnati Bengals (4-2) have to deal Suh on Sunday when they play at Detroit (4-2). Bengals left tackle Andrew Whitworth said Suh’s after-whistle hits have diminished his ability to be known as a great player, but doesn’t think he’s a dirty player. </SPAN></SPAN>
“He’s not dirtier than guys that played the game back in the day,” Whitford said. “The real truth is now he plays the game in an era where there’s a TV camera covering every single possible thing on the field and a lot of stuff gets put on film. People know about it. Outside of that, people would never even know some of these antics. I think he plays the game on the borderline level with a lot of intensity and sometimes it carries on into extra stuff.” </SPAN></SPAN>

The process involves die-off of thinkers like yourself (much like the baseball purists vs football), mothers steering their sons away from the contact sports that appear to cause brain-injury, the ever increasing immigration population, Europe increasing it's marketing in the US. 20 years ago, the MLS was barely formed. Now it's on NBC as is the EPL. Soccer can be played on any surface and with as many or few people as it chooses. Nothing stays the same forever. In the 80's, the NBA was damn physical. Now its best player flops off guys half his size. I'm a football diehard, but soccer is the world's sport, in a world where distance is hardly an obstacle. Football is changing. It's played in space now, and they are making rules that takes away blocking and tackling. Hell, we even see flopping in football now, and I can't imagine it will let up with the new targeting rules.

WTF? Has anyone watched the video? Total BS and I could find about a dozen hits that were worse this past week that nobody in the NFL cared to review.

And who is this VP of officiating Dean Blandino? He says "potential helmet to the body". WTF is that some shit he just made up? I thought it was helmet to helmet? Now he is saying your helmet cannot hit the body?? Somebody should explain the rule of physics to Blandino. How can a 300 lb man running full speed prevent his helmet from touching the body during a tackle??? It's almost impossible and happens almost every play?

A final thought. Gambling made the NFL the sport it is today. There are so many more leagues throughout the world, and the world gambles on them. It just takes the right circumstances and the US will gamble on them as well, like the World Cup. I've already seen a huge upswing in soccer gambling over the last 5 years amongst the same US clientele that barely touched it before the last World Cup.It's trending, like it or not.

At least in college, targeting is leading with the helmet. Doesn't need to be helmet to helmet. But try hitting somebody with your shoulder and see if the helmet doesn't make contact. Guys have been taught to put their helmet on the ball when tackling to cause turnovers, the same technique is getting them ejected now.

FFS, the QB pumps the ball. What is a defender supposed to do, make sure the QB throws the ball and then let up?
