Wainwright was off. Freese missing routine plays at 3rd. Kozma, no explanation needed. Sox offense certainly came to play and tore the cover off the ball. I'm sure I'll be blasted for this by all the Boston homers, but I'm sorry. Lester is too talented to pull BS like that. It's a pathetic show of sportsmanship and frankly shows his lack of confidence against a potent Cardinals lineup.
Sure, I'm whining because my team was embarrassed. Lester doctoring the ball certainly doesn't change the fact that Boston was hitting every beach ball Waino lobbed in their wheelhouse. But that game is a helluva lot closer and Lester is far from as dominant as he was without throwing Vaseline balls. Seems ironic Buchholz was tagged just this year doctoring the ball too. Wtf Boston?! Way too talented of a team and organization to pull this crap. Just pathetic!!!

Let the bashing begin...

Forget last night . Let's hope Wacha remains dominant and you get what you wanted in Boston. A split.

I knew this series would be tough, very tough. Flashbacks to 2004 loom.:ohno: If we can get away with the win tonite and at least 2 at Busch, we have a shot with Wacha pitching game6. Defense has to be flawless. This isn't the Dodgers.......:smoking:

Agreed with both statements gentlemen. Just had to vent a little. It's done an over and we move to game 2. Defense HAS to be better and bats better come alive. Hopefully, Beltran can suit up as well. Big blow to the lineup if we lose him. Let's do this Birds!!!!

I'm sure I'll look like a Boston homer due to my name, but you guys are joking right?

This happens all the time, he wasn't greasing up the ball for weird movements (and brooks baseball has his movement being pretty much on par with the norm) he was using it to get a better grip (probably pine tar). There's a reason the Cardinals made their prospect take the tweet down and didn't complain, etc. Idk if it's right or wrong and I don't really care either way, but let's not act like Lester is a disgrace, or even out of the ordinary. I think anyone who's played baseball (or even watched a whole lot of it) should know this is the norm not some rogue cheating asshole.

Also may want to look at this:

Should add that a lot of people seem to think it was bullfrog sunscreen, which would be an even smaller issue.

Its amazing that the only people who think its wrong is Cardinal fans. I havnt seen one ex-ballplayer or announcer say Lester cheated. He admitted he had Rosin in his glove just like 90% of all pitchers do. All ball players use it or some form of sunscreen for grip. I think Cards fans need to listen to their manager who said it was a non-issue.

If the roles were reversed all you would hear are Sox fans bitching. Why would Cards fans not complain? Just because ex-ballplayers, the Cardinals or MLB found "nothing conclusive" (which is BS in itself...that's hardly rosin in his glove) that makes it right? I guess if it's only "kind of" cheating it's ok. Good to know.

As I stated in my original post I take nothing away from the Sox offense. They hammered the ball all night long. We lost. We lost badly. Fact is Lester, who I admittedly said, is a dominant pitcher and doesn't need to cheat to pitch well disrespected himself and more importantly the game. It is what it is and this trend seems to have followed Boston sports around in the last decade. Game 1 is over. I've moved on. Game 2 was a HUGE win for the Birds and the momentum shifts back to St. Louis and their rabid fan base. All I was saying is it's about respect for your yourself, for your organization, and most importantly the game. Apparently, Lester didn't get that memo.

All pitchers use this Chong. I have a feeling you know this already though.

EVERY pitcher uses it. I guess you lost respect for every single pitcher and player in the MLB then.
Even position players use it. Very common. Thats why its on the back of the pitchers mound for everybody to see lol.

are you serious? I did not see anyone doing it last night.. I know you are a homer but please...If it was the St Louis pitcher you would be here bitching and crying. No one really gives a shit about emotions, that wont get you far in life. Swallow your pride and deal with it, your guy cheated to win game one, got shut down in game 2 and now u go west with no DH or VASELINE......LOL

ANOTHER homer.. maybe you did not see curt shilling on set yesterday making fun of the cheating bum..in one hand he had a glove on, in the other.... he had a jar of Vaseline. Turn off the Boston sports channels and you will hear tons of former MLB players saying he cheated

You don't know a thing about baseball....vaseline LOL...it was rosin you clown. Everyone knows it was, StLouis fans, players, EVERYBODY, except the cry baby on the internet.
Yes I am a homer. Just like you are you fucking ball washer. Give me a break with "I know your a homer".

I could care less what St.Louis pitcher (insert name here) uses rosin...its legal.

Vaseline LOL, you know nothing about the sport because anyone who uses vaseline knows you can't control the ball and its VERY fucking obvious whens someone does use it.

Learn a little about it before you go crying all over the RX.
