Really hated to hear this. Actually been playing a lot of his stuff in the past few weeks. Love this album, 1 of the best live albums ever recorded.

Saw him about a dozen times between 1975 and 1985. I had a thread in the defunct Entertainment forum a few years ago that noted "Rock'n'Roll Animal" was perhaps the greatest live rock album ever. Here's a somewhat obscure number from a lesser known live album and one of my favorites. Saw him do this one at the Bottom Line in 1978.

What is a shame is that a long-term alcoholic and drug user got a new liver in the first place.

The opening guitar riff to Sweet Jane from Rock N Roll Animal is still the best I've ever heard. The guitar duo of Dick Wagner and Steve Hunter help put Reed on the map. And they later joined Alice Cooper and made him a star. Lou Reed was great. Femme Fatale still remains one of my alltime favorite songs. Lou Reed is gone yet Ted Nugent is still here...Just doesn't seem right.

Douchebag

I just had a bother-in-law die while waiting for a liver. Non-alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver. He was an MD, PhD, professor, father and a great guy. He never got a liver. But Lou Reed, a fucking druggie, did.

You are the d-bag for defending Reed just because he is famous.
