david ortiz to me has been one of the most consistant mlb players i know.he is having a great year if you ask me,and still has a lot of drive at age 37.

when he is done playing do you think he has a chance to get in the hall of fame some day.

lets look at his stats

avg-.287
hr-431
hits-2023
rbi-1429
ob%-.381
slg-.549
ob slg%-.930
all star-8 times

i could have posted other stats but i figured the main ones should do.

so what do you think about david ortiz,i really like the guy and always have

Great clutch home run hitter. Career tainted by steroids and the HOF chances hurt by the fact he can't play a single position in the field well enough to do so.

Best DH ever. Not even close. Yes, he will eventually get into the HOF.

I wouldn't sign him to a 7 year extension for 200 MM, but he looks to be in great form NOW !

He's kind of Bonds like now even, where you might walk him in unusual situations to create a double play since he is about as slow as any MLB player I can think of.

I think a DH only guy / rare 1B appearance should not make over 10 MM .

I do support benching Napoli for Ortiz .....tough for napoli.....but the guy is HOT at the right time

I don't know anything of the steroid accusations, but the 431 HR's are impressive !

It's hard to earn a DH job, only 15 AL teams, and it's nice to be able to rest your regulars a bit by slotting them into the D/H role on a rotation/ as needed basis....A little tough when you have Ortiz there !

There aren't a lot of comps to Ortiz, tough to evaluate !

Maybe a HOF player, has the HR'S for sure !

He should get in, but not 1st ballot Jeter like....might take a bit....depending on how he finishes !

Tough as hell. Thought he might of been washed up a couple of years back but has come back strong. 8-11 so far in the World Series. Definitely a HOFer imo, but will probably take a while. Awesome in the clutch as well.

Failed a test in 2003. Zero chance for hof. So funny the selective memory people have on this stuff.

Guy sure is clutch.

You couldn't keep your job if weren't on them back then. Fuckin new Yankee stadium. The house that roids built.

I think Ortiz has been clean for a lot of years. Best clutch hitter in my 58 years.

To be clear, there's a certain era of ped use that I won't hold against guys, given the nature of the game (commissioner, owners, fans, union, agents, players, etc). I just think its comical how selective people's memory are.

So he's the only PED guy that gets in hof?

so, you know this to be a fact?

and in Ortiz's case, his best years came after 2003. Not many other people can say that their best years came after testing positive. He kinda sucked until 2003
