insured a 2003 4x2 rav4 for 5,000,000 colones. The agent at an INS office asked me what i want to value the car.
i replied i haven' a clue--i never bought or sold a used car. he set value at 5,000,000 colones. I always take full coverage.
My wife had an accident. Total bill for two cars 750,000. they only paid 250,000. Why? They said i undervalued car.
Ridiculous. they said value of car was 6,500,000 colones. difference in premium would have been peanuts which
i would have had no problem paying. I went to Toyota and on their letterhead giot a market value for the car--
they said 4,260,000 colones. So, appararentli i OVERVALUED the car. Tough shit--they wouldn't pay the other 500,000
colone on the bill.
after that i upped my value to their number. my wife while at a light had the window broken, bumber broken by a
theif who stole her pocketbook. she had the belen police come and OIJ came. she gave both reports to INS. she went to OIJ and looked at fotos. She even gave placa to the police and OIJ. Now INS saying she's lying and they want a wriiten statement. unfuckingbelievable this piece of shit country.
bottom mline. when you purchase insurance here be careful. make sure your care is valued correctly--don't skim on value.
