The pass interference and the personal foul calls are making it unbearable. This is a big boy game.

Check out the pass interference on Keenan Allen in the skins/chargers game. He literally did not even touch a redskin and was called for offensive pass interference. It was bizarre. Still very watchable imo tho

League wants more points, more excitement. See MLB, steroids and home run battles. 10 years ago how many quarterbacks were throwing for 400 yards a game.

Yeah, I watched that play and the announcers were kind of pissed off that it was called.

Roughing the passer on the Texans. Andrew Luck trying to pass the ball and still in the field of play.

I have to agree. Can't hit high, can't hit low, cant lead with the helmet, can't touch the QB at all, receivers are always "defenseless". All the other tick-tack calls that are changing the game. Reviews after every few plays. Commercials after every score, after every punt, after every kickoff. NFL would be onto something if they made it more like soccer - have companies sponsor the telecast and no commercials. Get rid of the kickoff, and just go at it hurry up offense style.

Also, I think the game would be a lot safer if they went back to leather helmets. Then dudes would think twice before hitting like idiots.

Guys don't wrap up and tackle any more.

That is a lost art it seems.

All these defenders launch themselves into the ball carrier, shooting the head or the legs.

Tackle them at the waste and take them down.

They called 1 today in the Jets/No game where the Def lineman put his hands up to block the path of a pass, Brees pumped faked and the guy was then in position to tackle Brees. When he grabbed at him Brees ducked into the guys hand and they called 15 yds roughing the passer for a blow to the head.
So all QB's have to do now is drop back with the ball held to their ear like a telephone and you cant touch them. They could stand there all day and if you attempt to knock the ball loose its 15 yds on you. WTF???

I / we actually find ourselves sitting there talking about what asinine call are they going to make this time. It's not just about the players executing nowadays, what stupid call is about to be made has become a very big part of the game

too big a part

They need to start fining officials (or something) for incredibly bad calls. No accountability for these guys. In that sd game today, the offensive PI that everyone in the thread has mentioned... That guy needs to feel it in his wallet or something.

I don't know, maybe fining them isn't the best idea, but something needs to happen..

Refs are trying to make the NFL a tennis match,I can see calling blatant late hits, but some of these calls are horrible.

I still think its ridiculous you cant review a penalty. A penalty could be just as big a play as a guy making a catch or keeping 2 feet in bounds. If the coach think a called or uncalled penalty is worth the challenge, it should be allowed.

I think the most ridiculous part of it, is when theres no flag until the guy looks hurt.. Had to happen 3 or 4 times yesterday

I know its all about the $ and the refs are instructed to make these calls in order to protect the NFL, but it has nearly ruined the game. I am afraid that it will be the downfall of the league, it really is becoming unwatchable.
