[h=1]Lottery winner sued by girlfriend who says she deserves a share[/h] 14 hrs ago

This spring, Pedro Quezada, above left, won $338 million in the Powerball jackpot drawing. (Cue fanfare.) But the celebration probably didn't last long for the New Jersey man, since he's now being sued by his former girlfriend, who argues that she deserves a share of the winnings because the couple shared an income; they co-owned and ran a grocery store together. Ines Sanchez and Quezada lived together for 10 years, but Sanchez moved out last month. Sanchez' attorney says that because Quezada bought the ticket with money the couple earned together, Sanchez is entitled to share the winnings. But, the couple were never married, which complicates the case. The lawsuit is still pending, but a judge has declined to freeze Quezada's assets to prevent him from spending the winnings. I'm sure he wouldn't just leave her high and dry, 3 sides to every story.

At first glance, seems like he girlfriend is going to get some money. Do they have common law marriages in New Jersey? Most states don't acknowledge them anymore but 10 years of cohabitation would generally qualify for a common law marriage IF New Jersey recognizes them.

Second, Wonder if he actually chose the winning numbers or if they were automatically generated? I've never purchased a lotto ticket on my life. Is it evident on the ticket itself if you are actually choosing the numbers vs having the machine randomly choose the numbers? He'd have a better argument if he actually picked the numbers.

Says they lived together 10yrs and shared everything, and that she just moved out last month, which means they were together when he won.

I'm not in favor of a lot of things women get handed to them most of the time, but in this case she definitely deserves part of the winnings.

I'm sure she recently moved out because he's being a real jerk now with all of this money...

Here's some interesting info.... and Strange as well...

Ms Sanchez's attorney says that a large chunk of the lottery winnings is already gone, claiming $US57 million has been sent to Mr Quezada's native Dominican Republic, $US5 million was given away, $US300,000 was spent on the new home, and $US20 million can't be located, the newspaper reported.

The dude is with a chick for ten years and never wifes her up. Dude wins the lottery, kicks the chick out immediately, let's the grocery store go to shit, sends some loot to his mama in the DR, hides some in a can behind his cousin Luis' house, spends 20 mill at the titty bar... The writing was on the wall 9.5 years ago for this broad, this dude was just holding onto her waiting for something better the whole time.
