Teams down 15 or 18 going for 2 - makes more sense right?

Watching Illinois/Ohio St, Illinois down 18 they score a TD. Announcer is flabbergasted they are going for 2 to make it a 10 point game; saying "I don't understand why teams do this!! If they miss it they will need 2 TD, if they just kick the XP they will only need a FG and TD+2!!"

I hear announcers say this dumb shit all the time. If you're going to need the 2 point conversion regardless why wouldn't you go for it the first time around? That way if you miss it you know what you're going to need down the road. Example Illinois missed the 2 pointer so they're down 12, and the announcer is like "see I told you so". But to me I'd rather know NOW that I need 2 TD and manage the clock accordingly. The alternative is you think you have more time than you really do, kick a FG when you should've gone for it, and then go for 2 at the end, miss it and lose. :think2:

Why don't announcers understand this?! :ohno:
