What is wrong with what these investigators told Jameis Winston's accuser?

Why does ESPN keep running this like it's some breaking story?

So, the accuser says Winston raped her. The cops tell her look, your life could "be made miserable" if you pursue charges. What the hell is wrong with that?

They're just informing her what will happen if she wants to proceed and to let her then make a decision based on the facts of the case.

They were intimidating her. She already left school and most likely will not return. The issue I have with reopening a rape case a year later is stories can change and this DA is trying to make a name for himself.

Can someone drop $100,000 off at this girl's house ASAP? How hard is it to buy off a victim? I do not believe she was raped; I believe she had sex with him and after he kicked her to the curb she was pissed. The whole timing of reopening the case makes no sense.

I'm not saying you're wrong Bane but why is that intimidation? They told the accuser what to expect if she accused a big time college athlete with rape and then let her make the decision if she wants to pursue the accusation or not.

I've read that in plenty of cases, a woman doesn't come forward because she doesn't want the case to drag on for months and doesn't want the hassle. Can you imagine what would happen in this case? It would be an avalanche.

They laid out the options for her. It's not like this PD hasn't arrested Seminole football players before.

As for "what is wrong with that".....You can't POSSIBLY be serious? It IS NOT their job to tell her what "might" happen if she presses charges. Look nobody but she and God knows what actually happened. BUT if she claims rape and there's physical evidence to back it up, this dude is in SERIOUS trouble regardless of what actually happened.

I don't quite buy Bane's theory here though...He was a "NOBODY" back then. The cops telling her that at that time just doesn't make sense to me. Who knows...Nothing would surprise me though...

I am serious.

She comes forward and claims rape. The lead investigator starts looking at the case in an objective manner and finds evidence that a crime did occur. Investigator takes the case to the District Attorney and he/she agrees.

Accuser continues to meet with police (usually a victim advocate in the PD in these cases) and the police lay out what is going to happen moving forward including what she can expect in cases like this. They aren't sugar coating it. They are telling her what is going to happen with the media etc. so she can be prepared when the investigation goes public.

I see no issue with them doing that at all. By the way, the PD in this case has nothing to gain from this. When she accused Winston, he was a fourth string nobody. The PD doesn't have a history of wrongdoing with FSU athletics. In fact, they have arrested and charged players in the past.

He was a nobody? He was the top QB recruit in the country. Again the burden of proof falls on the man to prove it was not rape. Throw in the fact that Winston is black and he's screwed. Someone will find out and post the victim's name; once that happens all hell will break loose. She lives in Tampa.

Huh? It's the prosecution's job to prove it was rape beyond a reasonable doubt.

A top recruit is not the same has Heisman front runner and QB of the #2 team in the nation that most likely play for the National Championship in a few months.

You were doing ok until you said this. I'm not calling you stupid, I'm saying that is an ill-informed thing to say. Being the #1 QB recruit in the nation is beyond being somebody, you are a rock star and everyone knows it.

On Mike & Mike this morning I caught the tail end of it but she got checked out for rape that same night (unless I heard it wrong) so I also don't agree with Bane that she was kicked to the curb and then claimed rape. Unless it all happened that night he dumped her already which I highly doubt?
