Did NE just win the OT toss and give Manning the ball?

I am stunned and I wanna mention that now before the result is in

Belichick must be on crack

NE just scored on 5 straight possessions and Den also just went down the field to TD. Not like this is some field position battle game

Talib doesn't care what Bill calls and it is moot now but wow I can't believe he did that given the game situation, the teams, everything...

I mean some Ravens/Pitt bloodbath you could justify that but this is Manning/Brady!

It worked out pretty well, I'd say. New England won, didn't they?

I love how guys in here talk like they know better, and somehow they make better decisions than the best coach in the game.

Huge win, and big comeback for the Pats.

BOSTON (CBS) – Though most — if not all — fans in New England feel Bill Belichick is the best head coach to ever grace the sidelines in the NFL, many folks outside of New England don’t share that sentiment despite the coach’s successful track record.
Well, NFL GMs agree with Patriots fans.
In an SI.com poll given to NFL general managers, in which they could not vote for anyone on their own team, Belichick received nine of the 12 votes for best coach in the league.
Read: Predictions For Pats-Bills Week 1
Only three other coaches received a single vote: Jeff Fisher of the Rams, Tom Coughlin of the Giants and John Harbaugh of Baltimore.
Here is what a few of the GMs polled had to say about Belichick:
“He can coach the offense, he can coach the defense, he can coach his own coaches,” one GM said of Belichick. “He’s the outstanding coach of his time.”
“Is there any debate about it?” asked another GM “Always prepared. Has reinvented that team several times and competed for a championship after every reinvention. There is nobody better.”
“We all have our trials and tribulations, but I don’t think there’s anyone who matches him in terms of matching personnel and scheme,” added a third GM “His ability to stay calm in the heat of fire is impressive in this league.”
Under Belichick, the Patriots have 10 divisional titles, 10 playoff appearances and three Super Bowl Championships. His 205-109 record (including the postseason) in New England ranks first among active coaches and sixth on the all-time list.
Sports Verdict: Which Conference Will Win The Super Bowl?
He gets plenty of criticism from national pundits and those outside New England, but according to his fellow head coaches, Bill Belichick is the best in the business .
Ozzie Newsome of the Baltimore Ravens was voted the league’s best general manager in the poll.

oh yeah terrible decision, no doubt about it

He makes a lot of awful game management decisions but yeah it worked out tonight.

His clock/game management is pretty awful which is astonishing given as you said, he is way smarter about football than anyone on this board. This one is a little more subjective to nail down but the clock management stuff last few years (most notably before half vs the Ravens last year) is stuff a 4th grader could figure out.

What is sad if the Pats lost you would have seen all the knuckleheads who don't understand odds ridicule the greatest... once again Belichick proving why he is the greatest

I'm not really a results oriented person with stuff like that, just look at it objectivitely. I said it when it happened that it was a pretty puzzling move...

If you play a poker hand bad and you win it are you the greatest? I mean it worked doesn't mean its the right +EV play.

I could pointout far less subjective mistakes he has made with game/clock management that your typical 17 year old stoner playing madden could figure out, but I don't really feel like running Belichick down after a nice NE win. Not like anyone is saying the guys an idiot, a few of us just surprised at what he did...

Obviously when it comes to Xs and Os and scheming he is a mastermind (not to mention team focus, motivation, etc etc) To let Moreno run wild and not let Peyton get in a groove all night worked perfectly. Similar gameplan to the NYG/Buff and STL/NE SBs...A lot easier to do in cold weather also...

it was one of the best moves a coach ever made,i really can't for the life of me believe what im seeing here as guys are saying he made a bad decision.the guy is a genius and thinks everything out.his defense shut down manning the whole second half so why not play defense and have the wind advantage in his favor, its not like the first FG wins the game

He always plays his hand at +EV... its just when it loses people like to call him out on it. The reason people call him out on it is because they aren't used to the calls he makes because they are brainwashed into believing the wrong way... the calls he makes are almost always +EV.

NE also scored 31pts in the second half if you wanna go by the recent history of the game. You would want to take that and just take the ball and try to end it then, you are giving the other team a chance to just end the game. He showed a lot of confidence in the D.

Also whether the decision was +EV or not why would that have anything to do with the result of the game? It had nothing to do with the result of the game. NE won the game because of a special teams mistake by Den. So not sure why Zit would say when it came to the decision we know nothing compared to Belichick, he didn't prove us wrong. That is just a lack of thinking on his part as the decision was totally moot...
