I am very claustrophobic and have been unable to do MRI exams even with a sedative .... what are the other alternatives for diagnosing what my doctor thinks is a rotator cuff problem .... they also wanted to do a brain MRI since I have lost dexterity and have tremors in my left arm .... ANY thoughts or MRI alternatives would be greatly appreciated.

They seem to be pushing the MRI, but just can't do it as it freaks me out.

Yep. Was just about to recommend this. I've been in both because of some bulging discs in my back a while back. If you're just brutally honest with your prescribing doctor about your claustrophobia, he should be able to send you to a location with an "open" MRI. Of course, the insurance company has the final say in everything nowadays as backwards as that is.

whatever you have to do to get imaging for the tremor, get it done. CT, open, whatever. you've got a lesion somewhere and it needs to be located ASAP.
