Heard a rumor today that he is the number one target to replace Mack Brown for next season. Supposedly going to offer him 6 million a year with incentives that could boost pay quite a bit more. Has anyone else heard anything on this???

Wow....that's some serious cash. He has done a hell of a job this year. But $6 mill a year is a long way from Arky St in a year and change.

Go easy Tide......You know how slow JB reacts......

must not have come through on his orangebloods insider texts yet. he's still holding out for Saint Nick once Oliver Luck brings him "to the finish line" Not sure if that happens before, or after, Gilbert winning the Heisman but he'll let us know

Would Malzahn have buyout problem at Auburn? I still say Arkansas gets the "dumb ass award" for not hiring him.

buyout is 500k for every year remaining so if he left now would be 2M but he'd make most of that up if he wins on saturday as his contract has heavy incentives for wins and titles.

I have also heard from a few people that Jim Tressel has been seen in Lincoln..... supposedly he will be in charge of the Cornhuskers next year...

Did a little digging - apparently Jessie Palmer is the one who started it. Texas can afford the money to hire anyone - the question is would he want to go? I could see Malzahn using this as leverage to get a big time contract at AU.

This is the time of year for rumor control to run amok. If it comes down to a bidding war, Teas wins. If it comes down to common sense, Auburn wins.

SEC > Big12-2

but not having to face Alabammy every year >>>>>>>> SEC

it's a different rumor than hearing Saban's name every time...so that's nice.

this Malzahn rumor started on Burnt Orange Nation a couple days ago and the link was removed yesterday. then Horns 247 picked it up and ran with it for a bit.

russ is right, it was Arkansas who made the epic mistake of not hiring Malzahn and instead went with Bielema the clown for a disgusting price.
