question re: Local Bookie

I've been playing offshore for many moons but haven't played with a local for 15 years or so (only time was when I was in college and dude still owes me a couple hundy!).

Anyways, I'm sick of the offshore hassles and just got contact info from a guy in my neighborhood for a local and need to call him to kick things off.

Question: what should I ask him upfront? I imagine we need to agree on max/min bet and settle amount/timing....are there other things I should address?

Ask him what his payout is for 6 team parlays

I'd ask where you can get an idea of what lines he'll be using without bugging him for a rundown. Maybe he uses a site or maybe you get lucky and he uses some scorephone or newspaper.

thanks guys that is helpful. i dont play a lot of parlays but should ask what he pays on them. good point on checking lines as well.

if he uses a website or you have to call in.
if you play parlay, if ties reduce to the lesser team or if it loses altogether. believe it or not i've heard some bookies have you losing if you tie one and win one on a 2 team parlay.

oh yea...if he takes 2nd half bets. i know some bookies dont do 2nd half..also the juice on them. alot of locals i know uses 120 juice. which is why i just play offhsore when i get the chance.

Same question with teasers . Some locals grade pushes as a loss. Don't play if he does.

If Even Money, you have Hit a Home Run

Can you buy off or on the 3 ? if so, what's the Juice ?

What day of the week is your Settle Day ?

If he uses Internet ... that's Great... only Phone ?? that would Suck... and if so, What time do they Open ? what Time do they Close ?

Kind of ask him How many Players he has ?? That way you would get the idea if he has a tiny Sheet...

I am going to call him tonight or tomorrow morning and will report back. I think he has been around for a long time from what I heard (involved with training horses or something and the guy I got his number from has had a buddy that has played with him for 10 years or so I think).
