I'm 38 and I still listen to top 40 but there aren't many new songs I enjoy. Maybe 1 or 2 in the top 40 countdown that I like enough to buy/download. Maybe it's my age but I remember listening to the top 10 at night, recording almost every song onto a tape.

I also remember buying tapes and liking at least half the songs if not more. Now it seems there are only 1 or 2 good songs on a CD when they come out.

I've been going back to 80's hair bands lately and so many good songs back in that era. Ratt, Twisted Sister, Skid Row, Slaughter, Winger, Kiss, etc. So many to pick from and haven't listened in a long time so like I'm starting new again. Cheesy, bad lyrics but just great music to workout to.

I've also noticed the videos back then were so cheap to make. Maybe one hot girl and the rest just the band playing making weird faces. Ah those were the days.

My parents said the same thing when I was growing up. Damn I'm getting old...

Most of the stuff on the radio all sounds the same anymore, occasionally a song will jump out at me,Like the song ''Sail" by Awolnation.Im starting to experiment with alternative outlets,to get away from the same old same old...The 80s rocked.''I WANT MY MTV''

Music just sounds better when you're in your teens and early 20's. There's no other explanation. It's gotta be hormonal.

Really? I doubt that people in the 60's and maybe the 70's had a lot to bitch about.

Obviously I love the music that I listened to in when I was 13-20

But there was a period I didn't care for it..

I actually like a lot of music now, better than ever IMO

If you youtube the aforementioned hair bands and other bands of the 80s like boston, queensryche, etc you will see in the comments section that even teenagers of the current generation think the current music sucks and that they love the 80s music.

I can't remember the last time I listened to the radio that isn't satellite. It is very easy to tailor the listening to your preferences and I admit I know very little about the current music scene.

Considering I mostly listen to classic rock, and old school rap, I would most likely say the current generation's music sucks.

I can recommend you new great bands and albums, I think great music is just harder to find, music business just doesn't care for talent and just go for the preppy sellouts and else. That's what you are blasted with in all those mainstream channels and stations.

80s Rock best music to workout too no doubt, my gym playlists full with GNR, Motley, Def Leppard, Motorhead, Ratt, AC/DC, Priest, Quiet Riot, Accept.

Different approach maybe. not too many GLAM OR OLD SCHOOL ROCK BANDS anymore, is a new world there, purists are always gonna hate. Used to think alike but opened my mind and never looked back, many great new music, just different styles for the most part.

Nostalgia is always in the way.

Current music does suck!
There was more variety in the 80's.
Now I prefer more underground music than anything. At 48 I've expanded my catalog (Latin, Salsa, Underground Rap, Underground Metal, etc.)
