Do I understand correctly that the grouping is random?

Do they separate by regions at all?

Because couldn't it have been much, much worse??

I admit I hate when ESPN or FOX shows soccer scores. I mean who truly cares about Labaloi vs Sethans I just shake head in dismay and go who?

I guess World Cup is ok to watch it's big time, but with all these soccer channels and what not, it's like they are trying to force people in the USA to watch or pay attention to scores that have no meaning to 99.9999% of us.

This is the best team we have put together in awhile, portugal hasnt been great lately, but ghana is going to be tough. germany will definetly advance.

They have the German coach, he'll figure it out.

World Cup is better than the Olympics. The fans and crowd are so amazingly intense, entire countries come together to cheer for their team. Go to a soccer bar in NYC to watch the games and it's like game 7 of the world series every game.

I still think soccer is boring and flawed. You can't have a game where so many matches end up in a draw. To me that shows there is a flaw with the game as every competition should have a winner and a loser. They need to make the field smaller so most of the game isn't spent playing keep-away.

love all the shit against portugal. we're talking about a team that has lost 2 games in the last 4 world cup qualifiers combined (that's 2 losses in 54 games vs European teams)

and only lost in a penalty shootout in semifinals European Championship vs the world champs....

yeah, they suck :)

oh, and they have the best player on the planet

I swear we hear that every time. We need to play like Azzurri. Defend and then counter attack. You know how many times they post clean sheets.

To be the man, you have to beat the man....USA will be competitive....

World Cup is the most wagered on sport in the World and most watched...

Brazil will enjoy the home field advantage...

I used to feel the exact same way until I started following the German soccer league and getting into the sport. It's true that statistically 25-30% of major soccer matches end in a draw, including the first round of the World Cup. But in league tournaments and WC elimination games they go extra time and shootouts, just like hockey. The draw is basically a win for the underdog and a loss for the favorite, since both teams get a point in the standings, doesn't take anything away from the game, just a different strategy.

I should give it more of a chance but to be honest there is so little televised soccer in the US that it's hard to get into it. It's just hard to watch soccer after watching a good football game.

Like in football you can have an amazing win like in the Auburn/Alabama game? Can that happen in soccer? Once a team is up 2-0 you know it's over.

Not true. US was losing 2-0 in last Wirld Cup and came back. They also scored a goal with seconds left to advance to the next round.

Portugal is beatable. For all it's dominance in qualifying and its rankning, they underwhelm on the World stage. Portugal/Ghana is more doable than Uruguay/Italy/England. 3 world champs in one group. Costa Rica is fucked.
