Former quarterback Craig Morton, who led both the Cowboys and Broncos to the Super Bowl in an 18-season career, is among former players suing the NFL for not doing enough the prevent head injuries.

The federal lawsuit filed this week claims the NFL had medical evidence of the toll head injuries take but "produced industry-funded, biased, and falsified research." It seeks unspecified damages for Morton, 70.

Another 39 players, including former Pro Bowler Koren Robinson, filed a federal lawsuit against the NFL and helmet maker Riddell over concussions this week, seeking $75,000 each and a medical monitoring program paid for by the NFL.

The NFL reached a $765 million settlement with former players earlier this year.

The Pussification of America continues...

These people knew what they were signing up for when they wanted to become professional football players, much like someone knows what they sign up for when they join the Army. And how does "falsified research" apply to "common sense?"

This shit is so ridiculous.

They deserve every penny they can get. I grew up playing at the same time or later than most of these players and know for a fact that concussions were not emphasized in any way. I know that 'shaking it off' and getting back in the game were always heavily emphasized. Now guys are having lifelong injuries, and more important than them actually receiving compensation, is that everyone learns the real risks and dangers. The NFL settled to sweep the issue under the rug and keep things quiet. All of that information really needs to come out, not be hidden.

I do not understand your Army reference and how it applies here. I know you are not suggesting that military veterans should not be compensated, or cared for, based on injuries they suffered while serving their country.

Not at all saying that lol

The comparison is this: When you join the Army, you always know severe injuries are very possible and sometimes inevitable, either at the time or something that will surface later in life. Thus, NFL players should have ALWAYS had that mentality when they first signed their contracts... if anything, since they get paid a lot more (And most will argue that Army veterans, true heroes, should be making more money than professional football players), that makes their case even worse for them.

It's just mind-boggling that some of these morons are complaining about issues that should have been common sense to begin with during their playing days. Hmm, continually launching each other into the strongest, most gifted and athletic athletes in the country... surely, no one will get injured from that! I understand that some of these players are trying to argue that the NFL is "downplaying" it, but as a player, just like when ANYONE chooses their career, it's YOUR responsibility to know the ramifications of a job. It's pathetic that this has become as big as it has.
