History shows that people get stiffed sooner or later. It is just a matter of time before another sportsbook goes bust.

BetPanam went bust. It took me over a year to recover 35k thru the courts.

Then I lost 92k to Cascade. They paid me 1k from my balance 5 yrs ago.

I also lost over 10k to WWTS.

These were all A rated "prompt payout" books in their time.

Then it was BetED getting their money confiscated by the US Government and players lost all their money.

Recently people lost their money to Legends, an A+ book foing bust. I suppose people lost their entire balances?

Did people also lose all their money when the Greek went bust / spiros got arrested?

It disgusted me to read about the letter WSEX posted apologizing for financial difficulty and stiffing everyone. Its that simple for them to do away with your money??

WHAT MAKES YOU THINK THAT THE SPORTSBOOK YOU ARE PLAYING AT IS NOT GOING DOWN NEXT? Its just a matter of time before it is their turn.

Sweat the game and sweat the payout - forget that.
Your money is safer in your hands, or if you must gamble, find a proxy in Vegas or a reliable local.

That is his point. This rings true to in life to, not just online sportsbooks.

Everyone is good for it...until they arent.

cause i'm not a big time gambler and dont keep my account that high anyways. i wd after a certain amount is reached. if i get stiffed tomorrow by an offshore book, i'll be highly upset bc any amount of money stolen from me is irritating but i wont starve cause i lost that money.

I've lost a ton to WSEX, and lost 96 cents on the dollar in the BetonSports stiff job, when Books I played at for a long time were bought by that group, and I couldn't get all my money out before they got pinched. But even with all that, I'm Way up playing offshore for the last decade and a half, and you just try to minimize the risks, which exist with locals also, and agents with PPH shops.
I thought WWTS players got transferred to another book way back in the day?
No one lost a penny when the Greek left the US market, or when Pinny left the US market, or when SIA did, or when Bowmans and other British/Australian Books left the US Market. Legends people got transferred to Wager Web, and none were stiffed, AFAIK. Those are models for how a good Book leaves, and the remaining Big Books, like Heritage, Bookmaker group, 5 Dimes, if they ever leave the US market, would hopefully leave the same way. Can that be guaranteed? Of course not. But if you play at the big, long established shops you should be as safe, if not safer, than playing with a local.

If you wan to bet big money as a US player, bookmaker is a good choice. Saying no serious players play offshore is laughable.
