If you could get one or the other with your Foots and Hoops wagers in ever game you played what option would you choose? And if you have experience with both, please share your results.

-110 with half point as long as you get it on every key number

I'd take a half a point, particularly in basketball that's worth the .05

If I get it off of every number that I want, the .5 points is better, no doubt.

If it's with weird skybook rules where I can't get on or off 3, 7, 10, 13, 14, 20, 21 in football, then reduced vig is better.

Since the "extra half point" matters in about 3% of wagers and the -105 matters in 100% of wagers, the correct answer is -$105

I tend to agree with BAS. The .5 extra has the obvious temptation, and I hate 1/2 point Losses, but it seems the long term value lies with the -105.

the answer is clearly .5pt off closing #. It isn't close, especially when factoring in football lines

Its .5 in a landslide. Assuming you get the half point on all key numbers.
Im kind of surprised at some of the answers in this thread to be honest.

you guys keep saying..... it's the .5

everyone of you should set up a yearly ledger and record your wagers, comparing your .5 vs. -105
then come back here and give me your answer with your bottom line.

You are looking at in the sense of only playing at 1 sportsbook.

I am looking at as another weapon in the arsenal.

If I had access to this fantasy .5 off book where I can move any spread for -110 on any key number I would not ever make a bet with this sportsbook on any bet other then games that are on key numbers.

I would use other books bets on off numbers.

But I would absolutely crush any book that offers .5 on all numbers at -110 because I would never use them for any other bet except for those bets.

I'd do it for real $ if given the chance. .5 in bball is usually worth around 7-8 cents depending on what the actual line is.

In football it varies a lot more as there are the 3s, 6s, 7s, 10s, 14 key #s that moving of those is worth much more than 10 cents.

It really isn't close.....I'd gladly do your suggstion if it was worth it, too bad the only way it would be worth it is in a fantasy world.

using a Very small example .... this past weekend

Where would you be CRUSHING the book by buying a free .5 point ?? How about the week before ??

I might not be always right, and will admit when I'm wrong. But I was in this business Long enough to know what the Books Don't want to give out, and what they do.

Maybe the $50 and $100 bettors would look at the .5 as a Bonus. I'm a much larger bettor and I'll take the reduced juice over .5 Anytime.

You aren't buying it, its free, that is the point. He asked what you would rather have...

There is a reason no book offers this while many books offer -105 on some level.

well Baskets only have 2 keys numbers ( 2 & 7 ) so of course it's worth less. But you have to question how much do the key numbers come in play ??
Not like they use to to.

Like I said... you guys can have all the .5, I'll take my reduced juice.

But there 5 books that I know of probably more that offer -105 and not a single book that offers .5 on all key numbers.

Skybook almost went under offering .5 on all key numbers besides 3.
Now the rules changed so much on the .5 they are not even worth dealing with anymore.

If the .5 on any key number is not as valuable as -105 how come no book offers it?

How can you say you know what the books do/don't want to giveout when no books are giving out what the OP is asking with the free .5 at -110

If they did this in the NFL they would go broke over a large enough sample. It is simply highly -EV

sorry basically a duplicate post to Chops but I had it typed and he just submitted his before I submitted mine.
