Normally, my family exchanges gift on Christmas Eve...

Something I did as a kid was go to a tree farm, once I have kids, that'd be something I'd continue.

Christmas eve - Mass, prime Rib dinner at the sister in laws with the wifes famliy, gift exchange...then home for a glass of champagne and put all the gifts under our tree for the morning...In the morn, open gifts with my two single adult children and wife first thing, then I make a smashing breakfast, then off to my mom's( dad is passed on) for another exchange with my mom, sis and bro-in-law, then a more buffett style dinner graze....home by about 8 to relax ..its a 5 lb, 24 hour shindig!

Pretty much all of my extended family has passed on. Last year, my first xmas as a single dad, I took my daughter downtown Ft. Worth to see the big Christmas tree and take pictures. I'm going to do the same this year and hopefully as she gets older (she is almost 4) that will be something she looks forward to, and will have the pictures/memories to look back on.......I've really gotten into the Xmas spirit this year for the first time since I was younger, because of my daughter. Can't wait till Christmas morning

Besides the norm (i.e., opening gifts Christmas Eve, Santa Christmas morning, etc.), the one unique tradition we have is "gift of the almond." Believe its a German tradition and we had a family member go to Germany years and years ago and we've done it since. After dinner, we have an ice cream desert that's been warmed to the consistency of a milkshake (and add plenty of Kahlua), and whoever makes them hides one almond in a glass. Then someone else serves the dessert. Whoever ends up with the dessert with the almond wins a gift.

We go out as a family on Christmas Eve and have a nice family dinner together and leave our waitress a very generous Christmas gift as a tip. Trying to show my boys it's about giving, not receiving.

No waitress wants to work on Christmas Eve. If they are there, they need the money.

I really like this one as well.

Would be cool to take the same photo with the same pose between you and your daughter each year so you can show her the growth and age throughout the years. Daughter and dad over the course of 25 years would be cool.

Thanks. If I could figure out how to resize a picture from my iphone to upload it, I'd post the pic of us from last year.

As far as what we do Xmas morning, we do the Santa when we wake up, open presents from me. Play for a little while and then go to my parents house in afternoon. Santa is bringing a puppy this year

Always go to a movie with my mom and sister and whoever else is up for it. mom is 88 this year so we're running out of time for this tradition. looking forward to it again because there are a lot of good movies out this year

In costa rica everyone gets drunk and opens the gifts at midnite. I find that tradition to be annoying, I'd much rather go to bed early and wake up and open presents in my pj's

Usually go the strip club (Atlanta famous for its strip clubs and rappers, and others in the music industry)

In all seriousness, as long as I at least eat Scalloped Potatoes then I'm Gucci.........

And I usually watch Scott Farkas sometime during the 24 hour run and that goes back decades every year

When I was a kid my family made us watch Scarface for Christmas.
