Has the ball with 2 minutes left and first down. Colorado State had NO timeouts. All he needed to do is take a knee 3 times and the game was over. Instead he decides to run the ball its gets stripped but they get the ball back. He didn't learn his lesson and runs the ball again and it gets stripped and Colorado state gets the ball....and in turn wins the game. This is a Division 1 college football coach. He should be FIRED ASAP. Inexcuseable. Period.

And WSU should replace him with who exactly? It was bad coaching but it's not as if there's a long list of high-profile coaches waiting in line to go to Pullman.

Does it really matter? He should be getting paid to be a div 1 coach. A div 1 coach doesn't make an absolute complete idiotic mental mistake like that.

didn't watch the game or have any action on it, but if the clock and circumstances were exactly like you said, i definitely agree.

It was with about 2:20 left so by my figuring, if they took three knees. They would have to punt and COl ST would have had between 10-20 secs left.

I Still think they should have taken three knees and made COl St go 70 yards in 10 sec down 8.

It actually does. WSU hasn't had a coach like Leach in ages and it shows with their absence from a Bowl in the last 10 years.

I'm not saying what he did was smart but they need him to put asses in seats, recruit good football players and to keep from hiring a tomato can.

There is a REASON why he is at WSU. He should be canned by the AD immediately. Hell WSU can hire any other retread coach out there...it doesn't matter

Was it a dumb move? Yes but not as dumb as you are making it out to be.

Should he be fired over this?

Absolutely not! RU kidding me?

Leach is the best coach WSU has had in almost forever.

WSU would be idiots overreacting like that over one move.

It is interesting how many coaches seem to make rather stupid decisions in the middle of a game. I mean, this wasn't complicated at all and Wazzu looked like they had no idea what was going on.

This isn't a fireable offense, but it doesn't speak well to Leach's preparation.

Leach received a 2 year contract extension on November 18, 2013 after leading the Washigton State Cougars to their best record since 2006.

Leach would not be allowed to coach in the Alamo Bowl regardless of how the hearing turned out. School officials later said that other incidents had come to light during its investigation of Leach, but declined to elaborate.

Leach claimed the controversy stemmed from Craig James' constant lobbying for more playing time for his son, whom he characterized as lazy and feeling entitled

What he did is a slap in the face to everyone involved with the athletic program at the university. Slap in the face to all the time effort and money it takes for all the people to travel to these bowl games.. A first class piece of shit..

As I've said many times, and get laughed at, but the average gambler or 12 year old kid playing Xbox knows more about clock management than half these brain dead coaches. Right again.

This is a little over-the-top no?

I mean, shouldn't two kids have not fumbled the ball either?

Now that I have looked into it more it was not dumb.

There was 2:20 left. If you get into victory formation there would still be 20 secs on the clock after 4th down.
This would have forced WSU to punt on 4th down with an 8 point game.

YOu never assume victory formation in a 1 score game unless you can run the entire clock out.

Running the ball burns extra seconds off the clock that victory formation would not, and there is always the chance for a 1st down which would run the entire clock out.

You cant coach a game assuming that your running back is going to fumble on 2 consecutive plays. Thats where the game was lost.
