You are rooting for a team and on 1st down they get about 10 yards. Measurement coming up, what do you want? pretend this is early in the game so a general rooting interest, nothing referring to a specific situation.

This question is a joke right? 2nd and 1 and it's not even close

The break even point is 2nd and 5. Anything less you should prefer over a 1st and 10.

so are you guys saying every time your team throws a quick out on 1st down to the chains you are hoping they are short?

I can see the appeal of a 2nd and 1, but when I see 1st down pass, I love it when they can move the chains for a new set of downs.....I love when they fight for that extra yard to reach the yellow line

Sorry not the intention. It's all about percentages for me. Your percentage of picking up a 1st down on 2nd and 1 is a lot higher then on 1st and 10.

I love when they do that on 3rd down... not on 1st

2nd and 1 is basically FIRST and 1....

Now say THIRD and 1 vs. 1st and 10, THAT'S a good comparison..

I was just playing Madden and had my choice...I chose 2nd and 1 and did a playaction pass deep and scored a td. 1 and 10 is great too. Both good situations to be in.

probably Carolina was playing Saints only way Carolina plays in Super Bowl, on Madden!
