I'm curious what people think of this. Daniel Negreanu is taking some heat for his actions here.

Basically he is being accused of faking accidentally putting too big of a raise into the pot, in order to get his opponent to
undervalue his hand. His opponent pushes all-in to take advantage of Daniel's "mistake." Daniel shows AK and doubles up.

Daniel is coy after the hand, and doesn't reveal if he did it on purpose or not.

Part of me thinks this is just good deceptive poker, and is part of the game - but I don't play enough live poker to know
if this is bad etiquette and is frowned upon.

The hand starts at 21:20, and there is some commentary at the 26:45 mark.

He knew what he was doing but the guy didn't have to take the bait and move all in. Suited KJ is not a strong hand and he got sucked out on the River. That's Poker.

Don't think he did it on purpose FZ. He really looked like he made a mistake.

Nice move. It's all part of the psychology of the game. Looks like a mistake to me, but if it wasn't - nice acting

furthermore : I saw at the end of the video that the guy who lost said if it wasn't a "mis-click" then it was a "shady" move. I can say for sure that if I was playing a live game and I mis-clicked and the other guy suggested it was shady play, I would absolutely start calling him a sucker and play the part of the intentional mis-click... even though I did an unintentional mis-click. What does that accomplish? Maybe tilts the guy while deceiving him at the same time. F- him. Gimme your chips and go cry at home

I think angle shooting is a cheap way to play and most doing it are scum. Don't think Daniel was doing it here and and even if he was - not that big of an angle shot imo. I think the chip leader got greedy and thats why it happened.

But Slapshot is right - where is the resident poker expert Awmllc?

either you missed it....

or I didn't pick up on the sarcasm.

Its sarcasm. I wish he would post tho and just admit he made up the stories. I really want to know what was going on through his head. Hopefully he eventually clears it up.

And I just rewatched the interviews and it now seems as if he did angle shoot and it was a bit of a shady move.

Only after you watch it for 2nd time after knowing what was the deal it seems likely he did it on purpose. I think he did, and yes, he is that good 'cause it fucking seemed very authentic!

If you are heads up you should be able to say whatever you want about the freaking hand. That's the game.

To me it looks fairly obvious that he did it on purpose. You just have to look at his body language when he makes the bet.

The other dude was just crying when he said it was shady, I mean he was more than happy to take advantage of the "mistake"
and pick up the 50k or so in chips. It just didnt work out for him this time.

yes, i just dont like people, especially pros, angle shooting in tournaments and taking advantage of technicalities vs more amateur players. Just my opinion tho

For argument sake lets just say he did do it purposely. What is the difference between reading the expression on someone's face or reading them after making a move like this? Maybe Silverman should have read Daniel as strong. If not so be it. It wasn't like Daniel had AA, and even if he did so what.
