is there going to be an unexpected team win the ncaa championship this year? It just looks to be heading that way if you have watched college basketball all year. There are a couple of teams that have looked impressive all season and have stayed near the top of the rankings all year but when tournament time rolls around will they hold serve.

arizona, syracuse have been the consistant headliners all season but there are i believe several teams behind them that have a shot at winning it all also.people mention michigan st,kansas, kentucky, louisville etc but can teams like wichita st,oklahoma st,san diego st,michigan, villanova, iowa st,wisconsin also have a realistic shot to cut down the nets.i really think they do,it just looks to me like its going to be a very interesting tournament this year and people are probably going to see some surprises they never expected to happen.

what's everybodys thoughts here,do you agree that its going to be a wild tournament this year or do you think one of the favorites will prevail

Someone in the ACC needs to kick worthless BC out and let them go to the Big 10 where they are a natural fit and let UCONN in - we are talking about the best basketball program since 1990 - with the rankings, titles and NBA players to prove it - yes, a better program than Duke - and now they are on the verge of becoming totally obsolete - and I hate UCONN being a die hard Cuse alum

I appreciate your support Seymour, and kind words about our performance, but we're not on the verge of becoming obsolete. We just have to take a different path

we're still landing good recruits, and we're high on the list of many recruits that wouldn't play for Jimmy. Ollie is smart, articulate, bleeds UConn blue (his family has lived in Glastonbury while he was in the NBA), has played in the NBA for 13 years and everything about his success is the direct result of an incredible work ethic. He has the street cred few other coaches can match

Our conference schedule is watered down, but there are a few good programs and the others will improve (like SMU, the other TX & FL schools). But we'll replace our tough conference games with a stepped up OOC schedule. This year, with a very late notice, our OOC play included FL, IN, WA, MD, BC, Stanford and Harvard. I expect such to be even better in the future.

I'm disappointed the BEAST was dismantled, I don't think I can ever be the fan of a conference going forward. I still expect us to play 10 - 15 quality games a year. One thing JC used to do, the entire early season home schedule was loaded with weak OOC opponents, so that's where we can close the gap

PS: looks like the NBE will be looking for some quality OOC opponents, they won't be nearly the same conference we were. The way Cuse and Pitt are dominating the ACC this year, they may have to look elsewhere too for better competition in the near future :)

CT is not close to being obsolete. The APR fiasco took its toll with a couple big men leaving immediately, but Ollie is a hell of a teacher and doing well on the recruiting trail. As a CT fan, I am happy to see that he has no interest in One and Done guys and wants kids that will be there awhile. I believe that Kemba Walkers success and Napier now being on the NBA radar is due to the fact that they had Ollie coach them.
