Is Hockey a sport in which a Super Star can dominate the game or more dependent on team play?

It definitely is a team sport since most stars are on the ice about a third of the game. But a star definitely can make a decent team a great team. I mean Crosby has over 75 points, that's a lot of goals he attributes to his team, but it's obvious teams like Chicago and Anaheim without a "Crosby" like superstar can compete with them. Boston is a great example of a team with out a super superstar that can win championships based on its ability to compete on all lines.

I think a superstar goalie can have much more effect than a superstar player. Like Quick in LA. Guy can win even if the team scores 1-2 goals.

I just retitle this dumb hockey questions.. I have a lot more...

like i remember hearing that after the lockout rules were made to make it a more of an offensive game, what were these rule changes? Has it had a big effect on the game? Is hockey better now or before?

The center red line is now invisible

A pass before couldn't cross 2 lines

Like the above poster said, no two line pass, they shrunk the goalie crease, they added the Brodeur rule where goalies can't touch the pucks in the corners, this year they added a hybrid icing rule. They also did a great job of eliminating soccer style flopping. Did this add to more scoring I don't know the stats but I absolutely love the game more now than before.

I will be different and say yes. The Goalie especially nowadays. Not long ago there was a guy that wore #99 who definitely did. #68 as well. There have been other super stars that dominated ... Pavel Bure, Patrick Roy to name a couple.

Sometimes it's easier to look at Hockey like Basketball

Like a Joe Thornton would be like a point guard who doesn't shot but has 15 assist a game

Patrick Kane would be like the guy you hit with a outlet pass on a fast break

The cycle in the zone trying to get someone open

Everyone is moving set someone up

Goalies influence in deciding a hockey game is comparable to the starting pitcher in baseball.

A hot goalie has a bigger effect than any other player.

Putting the puck in the net wins games ... a great goalie can and does help win games but with-out shooters putting the puck in the net you can not win games ... just look at Ben Scrivens, in 1st place in sv%, in 3rd place in GAA and in 3rd place in SO's, but look where the Oilers are in the standings 2nd to last place in the league.

Scrivens has only been with Edmonton for a couple weeks. In his four starts he is 3-1 with them. San Jose badly outplayed the Oilers in one of his starts. San Jose out shot Edmonton 59-27 yet Edmonton won 3-0. Scrivens set a NHL record for the most saves in a shut out victory.
