I like the Griz but I think most Griz fans expected this to be a tough year. Made no upgrades. An old team that just got older. And lost Lionel Hollins. I think they squeak into the playoffs and get beat pretty easy (5 games) by the 1or 2 seed.
New ownership with a different approach. More into analytics and the other new age data. Seems to be a long term plan.
edited to add: with new ownership, they'll probably be more likely to siphon off some of their playmakers and attempt to stockpile draft picks and cap room. Finishing middle of the pack doesn't help. Nobody gets excited about that and you miss out on the lottery picks.

i wouldn't say they were that overhyped
they're just a bad matchup for some specific teams
and i mean look how competitive the west is right now
the 8th seed is 30-21 and a huge reason why they aren't doing as well is bc of how stacked their division is. they are 2-11 in their own division facing dallas/houston/san antonio which are all v good teams. they haven't gotten any new players and zbo is just getting old. with phx (surprise), portland, and dallas in playoff position, i'm not surprised memphis was the one bumped to the bottom.

Overhyped? How can you say that when their 3 best players have missed significant time? Marc Gasol, Mike Conley, and Tony Allen have all had injuries. Gasol is the defending DPOY and Allen is considered the best on-ball defender of his generation since Bowen stepped away. Conley is the guy that ties their offense together and they really miss him right now. Overhyped seems harsh for a team that has seen their 3 best players miss big chunks of time. This team is still one of the top 4 in the NBA if they can get healthy for playoff time considering they have a spot waiting for them there.
