Ed Reed on Wednesday withdrew $50,000 in cash from a Houston bank and put it in a bag. He then drove to another bank and left the money in the front seat of his car while he briefly ran inside.

When he came back out, the money was gone.

That's the story, according to KPRC-TV in Houston, where Reed spent part of last season playing safety for the Texans. KPRC didn't reach Reed, but cited Houston police, who said thieves knocked out the window on Reed's car and took off.

This, according to KPRC, follows a familiar crime trend in Houston. Thieves will wait for people to make withdrawals at banks or ATMs, then follow them and wait for an opportunity (police call this "jugging" for some reason).

"This is a problem city-wide," Houston police Sgt. Arturo Bazan told the station. "These guys go all over the city, every bank. It's all over."

Other than withdrawing a bunch of money, it isn't known what Reed was doing in Houston. The Texans signed the legendary safety to a three-year, $15 million deal last summer, hoping he was the final piece to a championship team. Instead, the Texans released him in November during what turned out to be a 2-14 season.
