Tampa Bay Buccaneers to unveil new logo and helmet

By Anwar S. Richardson

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a new coach, front office, and will add another component on Thursday.
A new Buccaneers logo and helmet.

Please let it be the reincarnation of Bucco Bruce.

According to the team’s website, Hall of Famer Warren Sapp will unveil Tampa Bay’s new look during a segment on the NFL Network’s Total Access show on Thursday, which airs at 8 p.m. ET. Sapp announced the impending change via Twitter on Tuesday, and the team confirmed it.

New @TBBuccaneers helmet coming for 2014! Wait til you see this thing!! #Fire my G Gerald McCoy joins me live Thurs 8pmEST @NFLNetwork

Tampa Bay changed its entire look in 1997 when it switched from those infamous orange uniforms to pewter and red. Ironically, the woeful franchise evolved into a consistent winner, and eventual Super Bowl champions, in the new uniforms.

We can only hope Bucco Bruce is represented in these new uniforms. If the new uniforms resemble the horrific attire worn during the Pro Bowl, fans may cling to their Mike Alstott jerseys. Props to anyone who still owns a Martin Gramática jersey.
Bucs, do not let us down.

This is one way to ensure your franchise will never have tradition. Let's see, the Packers, Bears, Vikings, Steelers, 49ers, Cowboys, Giants, Jets have all changed their uniform colors and logos...ah, never. I guess the Giants had a different logo on their helmets once, but changing every seven years is bush.

I like Tampa's uniforms and logo. They seem to do this a lot now when there is a big shake up in the organization. Miami did it recently. Plus there is huge money in it.

i actually like the old swashbuckler pirate they had to your point though about money ya new jerseys and whatnot will make money but so does historically winning teams if your team is good people will buy merch look at the cowboys and steelers for example well not recent for steelers after 2 shitty seasons but they always seem to sell a lot of jerseys etc because they usually win i think that winning goes a long was i mean if say the bucs go 4-12 next few seasons i really don't think, no matter how nice the new digs are that they will be among top sellers in the nfl

Bucs show off 'intimidating' look

By Pat Yasinskas | ESPN.com

In addition to a new coach and a new general manager, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will have a new look in 2014.

The team unveiled a new helmet and an enhanced logo Thursday night.

The pewter helmet features a chrome grill and a larger red flag than in the past. It also has a hand-painted shading technique using a darker pewter color that runs vertically from the front of the helmet to the crown and along the earholes. There also were slight alterations to the logo, which still features a skull, two swords and a football.

The team also said it will reveal redesigned uniforms March 5.

"This is an exciting day for the entire Buccaneers organization as we begin the process of introducing our new look by revealing an enhanced logo and new helmet design," Buccaneers co-chairman Edward Glazer said. "The enhanced logo is much larger and portrays a more intimidating presence, while the chrome facemask is the first used by an NFL team. This is the first alteration to our logo and helmet since the previous re-design 17 years ago and we believe it sets the stage for our transition into this new, exciting era of Buccaneers football."

The Bucs have had the same helmets and logo since 1997.
