Video: Rice allegedly drags fiancee in casino

Ravens running back Ray Rice and his fiancee Janay Palmer attacked one another in an Atlantic City casino on Feb. 15, according to police. The two were arrested and charged with assault at the Revel Casino.

Video footage obtained by TMZ shows Rice allegedly dragging what looks to be an unconscious Palmer out of an elevator in the casino before the arrest. Rice is approached by a man who appears to be security, who speaks into a microphone as the running back is trying to pick Palmer off the floor. The couple was arrested later on and police said they have video that proves the two attacked each other.

Rice's attorney Michael Diamondstein responded to a request for comment, saying the video posted by TMZ is "not the complete event, but is merely the end result of what transpired."

Diamondstein added: "Neither Ray nor myself will try this case in the media.

"We'll assure the public that when this matter is fully tried and completed, you'll have a better understanding of what happened and we ask the public to reserve making any judgment until all of the facts come out."

If he knocked her out cold, yeah that's fucked up. But it doesn't add up. If I had no knowledge of background of the story and watched the video, my first thought would be wow that chick is passed out hammered. Dude is clearly hammered too. Why is it being reported he knocked her out cold? Are there witnesses to this? I haven't heard any so far, maybe I missed it though. I have heard witnesses saying they hit each other. That I believe. But you're telling me Rice knocked his girl out in a club clearly in front of others, then dragged her to an elevator without anyone stopping him? Not to mention, he can barely carry her two feet out of the elevator in the video.

Yeah I tend to agree. She just looks hammered. Will have to see more video, you know they have it.

Yep, i'm sure ownership is waiting on the tape from inside the elevator that the police apparently have. Police may have already shared this with the Ravens, especially if they went as far as sending investigators to get character background.

Ray Rice has to be shitting bricks with those no guaranteed NFL contracts.

Ravens running back Ray Rice married fiancee Janay Palmer on Friday, according to ESPN.

The ceremony had been planned for weeks, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Saturday.

Rice was indicted Thursday on aggravated assault charge stemming from altercation with Palmer at an Atlantic City, NJ, casino last month, prosecutors said.

Rice was initially charged with simple assault after police said he knocked out Palmer. However prosecutors took the case to the grand jury, which elevated the charge to the more serious aggravated assault.

Rice could face three to five years in prison if convicted.

Palmer's attorney has said he's certain no crime was committed. Rice's attorney, Michael Diamondstein, says Rice denies the charge and that the couple are happy and in counseling. They live in the Baltimore suburb of Reistertown.

The Ravens issued a statement saying "we know there is more to Ray Rice than this one incident."

Well, the prosecution cannot compel the defendant's spouse to testify against him. This privilege only applies if the defendant and the spouse witness are currently married at the time of the prosecution. Additionally, this privilege may be waived by the witness spouse if he or she would like to testify

If, for example, Rice was arrested for beating her in their home and she wanted to press charges she would testify.

But I think we got our answer in this scenario. I believe she has already told the state she does not want to press charges but I guess they are proceeding without her.
