arrested on three counts of criminal possession of a weapon early Tuesday after his estranged wife's lawyer dumped his gun off with cops, sources said.

The struggling Felton was charged with second- and third-degree criminal possession of a firearm — all felonies — and an additional misdemeanor charge (fourth-degree possession), an NYPD spokesman said.

The 29-year-old Felton is slated to appear in criminal court in Manhattan later Tuesday morning.

The Knicks guard was cuffed when he turned himself in for questioning at the 20th precinct in Manhattan at about 12:50 a.m., just hours after the Knicks latest loss — this time to the Dallas Mavericks, 110-108, at the Garden. The eight-year NBA veteran in his second stint with the Knicks, scored eight points and had seven assists in Monday night's loss.

Felton surrendered after a lawyer for his wife, Ariane Raymondo-Felton, 26, brought a Belgian pistol — an FNH 5.7x28-mm. — that belonged to the hoops star, sources said.

yup he is fucked. NY is the worst place to have a firearm. If Plaxico couldn't avoid jail, I don't see how felton avoids any.

There are reports that he pointed a gun at her [According to a law enforcement official, Raymondo-Felton, in her initial statement, told the police that Felton had threatened her with the firearm] and she got pissed and ratted on him, and other reports saying this isn't true.

"A legal defense that could work for Felton is that he did not possess this gun"

ESPN is saying that the soon to be ex-wife is saying Felton threatened her.

Interesting: Before the game, an attorney for Ariane Raymondo-Felton arrived at a Manhattan police precinct and turned over a Belgian-made FN Herstal pistol, police spokesman Sgt. Lee Jones said. Ramondo-Felton went to the precinct later that night and made a statement to detectives, police said.

So Felton was let out on $25,000 bail after being charged with 2 felonies. He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree and criminal possession of a firearm. The firearm charge is punishable by up to four years in prison. The weapons charge is punishable by up to seven years in prison.

He did not enter a plea and he's due back in court on June 2

Waffling on this a bit as the gun was presented from the seperated wife's apt.

He may actually end up with probation here...

Gonna be nearly impossible to prove that he brought this gun into NYC.

Ex wife and ex wife's lawyer are really credible.
