What's the point of the NBA? Only 3-4 teams have a chance to win the title.

Seriously, as a Wolves fan I know for a fact they'll never be able to compete with teams like the Thunder or Heat, in a series. People in this market will go nuts if the Wolves just made the playoffs. Every era is the same, only 3-4 teams have a shot to win the championship.

Is the point of the league just a Gov ploy to keep the prisons from over-flowing?

Somewhat true, but the parity is much better the last few years than it's been decades ago.

The reason there are always fewer NBA teams competing for a title compared to other sports, is because the difference superstars make on their teams is much greater.

NFL, NHL, and MLB obviously have star players, but still rely more on the entire team.

In basketball, a superstar can carry a team much easier...

I disagree. And the East teams like the Knicks, Nets, Pacers, Cavs and Magic basically had no shot to win the finals, they were just a horrible East offered.

Last 15 years:

5 to the lakers
3 to the heat
4 to the spurs

then there's the mavs, pistons and celtics.

40-13 the West's record vs the East in finals games over the last 15 years.

There's a period there where the East won a total of 6 finals games total, in 5 years.

the one and done college kid is killing the nba, they need to stay in school and learn the game, not 1 on 1 show time stats

A agree with a lot of this statement.

From a fans angle the NBA is terrible, from a bettor though, like myself...I'll continue to watch and bet on it.

That statement is 100% correct. Every other sport is wide open. Add in the fact that the refs control the game and I wouldn't be betting on any long shots to win the NBA.

Spurs have to be the most well ran team in the last 20 years, always constant, great coach, great trade moves and draft picks. Great team chemistry and management

Speak for yourself.

I know a ton of people (including myself) who love the nba product. We do fantasy nba, have nba league pass, and have a blast going to nba games.

Where were Oklahoma City/Seattle positioned before Durant? Not a very good team. It takes 1 superstar in the draft to change a franchise around.

NBA has a huge problem that the bad teams are undesirable places for these star players to live and play due to management and crappy weather. So even if drafted the countdown to free agency clock starts immediately. Barring hitting the lotto like OKC w KD/Westbrook, Teams like Minnesota, Utah, Cleveland, Charlotte, etc, have no chance.
