Intoxicated Man Loses $500K During Super Bowl Weekend, Sues Vegas Casino for Letting Him Bet

By Ryan Glasspiegel 1 hour ago

Las Vegas is littered with drunken fools just throwing their money away — a moron at my table last weekend stayed on a soft-15 and cost me a hand — but that’s sorta what people go there to do. It’s basically the city’s business model.
But maybe there’s a loophole for us all to recoup those mistakes? According to KSNV, losing bettor Mark Johnston is suing the Grand casino for letting his intoxicated self drop 500 grand during Super Bowl weekend:
Johnston, who says he had too much to drink before wagering that money, says the resort should not have let him gamble. Gaming regulations stipulate a casino can be disciplined for allowing a visibly drunk person to gamble. Johnston says while he doesn’t expect any sympathy from others, he still feels wronged. “I feel like they picked my pockets,” he said. “I feel like they took a drunk guy. … Like a drunk guy walking down the street, and you reach in his pockets and grab all his money.”
If Johnston is successful, Las Vegas could conceivably face litigation from virtually everyone who’s ever been there.

Guy has no chance. Who remembers the dude at the old Horseshoe? I played with him several times at the blackjack table. Think his name was Dexter or something like that. This dude was a bigger mess than me. He would fall asleep at the table and keep ordering shots and they would bring it to him! He would stack reds about 1.5 foot high, or as high as he can get it and bet CRAZY. All while barely being able to keep his eyes open.

I think it was around 98 or so we played at this table. He had a buddy with him, and said this was his usual routine. Horseshoe I think finally got sued or something, not sure of the details. but no way should they have been letting this guy gamble. but at some point, we need to take responsibility for our self, period
