It would be a great movie if it was a made up story, let alone it happened in real life.

Great 30 for 30. I'm pretty young so had really only heard about what an amazing run they made to win it all. I had seen his espys speech a million times but never really knew the whole story of the run NC State went on to win it all.

Watching the 30 for 30, it was apparent that any number of things could've happened where NC State would've lost in the first couple rounds of the ACC tourney and not even made the NCAA tourney. Not to mention winning all the other games following it.

Like you said, it would make a great movie even if it wasn't real but it would be the type of movie you kind of rolled your eyes at because it was too good to be true.

watched it awhile ago, thought it was pretty good. Loved Jimmy V and remember him coaching Iona in the tournament, but he was one of the biggest cheaters out there.

Although I feel sorry for anyone who has to suffer through cancer--I've had two friends die from it--it shouldn't be overlooked that Valvano was scandal-riddled at NCSt, including bringing in Chris Washburn, who could hardly spell his name, and yet got into the school. Obviously didn't deserve to die like he did, but he was far from a saint as a coach.

Did anyone see the 1 about the Big East dying?

Didn't realize how bad UConn got screwed into irrelevancy with that whole thing, although my friend who follows all that conf musical chairs stuff told me that SEC will probably take a VA/NC school and then UConn will join the ACC in a few years.

I attended Nc State '85 - '87. After the '83 championship... but I still got to see some incredible ACC basketball courtside. Vinny DelNegro, Nate McMillan, Washburn, Chucky Brown... They pulled off another ACC championship while I was there... underdogs and full of drama again. Saw the whole ACC up close including Lenny Bias dominating like nobody else. Bumped into Jimmy V. few times on campus. Guy was born to be a coach. Fantastic personality. RIP Jimmy

They touched on the scandals, but Coach K said he didn't cheat, and a guy on the NCAA investigation committee said that if he had a kid, he'd want him to play for Jimmy V. He was far from perfect as we all are, but he was a special person. And his players loved him, probably as much as the UCLA guys loved John Wooden. Tears streamed down from my eyes during this movie, especially when Whittenberg broke down reflecting on how he still can't believe Jimmy is not here anymore. I think he was one of a select few that really have a life relationship with their players. I have a good friend that played on a Div 1 scholarship and his experience was sure nothing like this.

The one about Marcus Dupree was my favorite until this one. This one is the best.

Len Bias.......what a sad story that one is too. That guy was gonna be some player in the NBA, and then in a few hours it was all over. I don't think very many people know how good he was.
