Obviously the gambling would be good but have a possible job offer coming my way soon. My question is should I move there? How is the city? Is it a good place to raise a family? Never been to Vegas so any advice is appreciated.

Several questions:

How old are you kids?
Where are you moving from? Cost of living is very good. No state income tax and city tax.

Personally, I love it. I love the fact that 3PM and 3AM are the same time of the day there. Summerlin, Henderson, Silverado Ranch area, multiple nice areas, where you feel like you are in Phoenix more than Vegas. Good weather most of the year. Pretty good place to live. Flights, all over the US and International, as well.

No kids...but will probably have a couple some day! Currently live in Dallas Texas.

I don't recommend it but what kind of advice do you think you're going to get on a degenerate gambling forum?

Very well put.

If you have any small fractional thought of gambling..... they will pick your ass completely clean and leave you in the desert.

like they said it is all about your habits and the job status,is the job one worth it to take in vegas?are you an everyday gambler?there are several good places to live out there, but if you are not into the desert heat then maybe you should re-think it.for me the weather is great for all my ailments and health problems but right now thinking about moving there is probably impossible due to all the grandkids in the family back here now.i did live there in the eighty's and i had no problem at all with gambling habits etc,i just took it as a better place to watch games with a lot of different people,....but its all about your lifestyle and you better make sure its something you are ready for

I've been here 2 years now and to be honest I'm not a big fan of the city. My car got stolen and there are homeless people everywhere asking for money. Lots of shady people in town. Lots of mental illness. I love my job which is why I'm happy enough here but it's a dirty city with lots of nutjobs. Drivers here are the worst I've ever come across. No one knows how to drive here at all. I live around Summerlin which is a nice area but I wish I was a bit closer to camping spots in the woods. Takes a few hours to get to Utah for anything decent. Also I've seen far too many scorpions and black widow spiders for one lifetime. Basically... weather is nice, a pool is almost a necessity during the summer. Prepare to be asked for money pretty much anywhere you stop. Stay in Summerlin or Henderson if you want nice neighborhoods. If you plan to go to the casino regularly you'll probably end up broke (most do). It's not a city I'd want to raise a family in really. Vegas can be fun but most get burnt out after a few months.

Sounds to me like a very honest post Jake.

I would add that, compared to most other outcomes, the scorpions and spiders would be preferred options!

I've been off strip in Vegas and it didn't seem that bad Jake.

Are you frequenting places in bad areas a lot or something? I know car theft is an issue, where was it?

What percentage of the homeless would u say consist of people who relocate to Vegas and lose everything due to drugs and gambling? Personally I couldnt do it because of the extreme heat and dangerous insects. Hate bugs...and if they can kill me....fukk that. Also whatever your salary is for your job offered you can cut that in half right now if a regular gambler at the cainos. Possibly joining the homeless legion in a few yrs if lacking self control.
