Alright, for those that aren't familiar with the site from the NBA forum, we have been running a tracking site on http://www.akptracker.com. It is only for RX users and the mods are supportive of it. We currently have logged over 9,200 bets in the NBA. So if you want to see what it's like with a lot of picks and records updated, view the NBA section. So here are some things to know.

1) If you are interested in joining, please PM me or post on this thread that you are interested. I will then make your account using your RX name.

2) There is an FAQ section on the site that kind of details some of the basic topics. If you need any more information, just let me know.

3) To get to the baseball section, click the MLB button on the index page or go to the "Sports" tab on top and selection "MLB" from the drop down.

4) From there you can click on "Schedule" on the left hand toolbar. You will then see todays games. I have it linked to a live rss feed so the scores are updated every 20 seconds. Hopefully the records are now self sustaining, so I won't have to do anything.

5) To make bets, log in after I set up your account and there will be a "Make Bets" icon on the left hand toolbar. There is is pretty self explanatory. Just remember, that the "Spread" column is also used for the Over/Under numbers. So if you select Over, make sure you put the line in the line column... i.e. the -110 or +105. Then put the over/under in the spread column.

6) I'm not an avid baseball bettor so please let me know if there are any other bet types, bet lengths, etc, that you would like me to add.

7) For right now, I will keep a thread going to update the results, just to make sure things are running smoothly. Then eventually someone else will have to take over the record page or it can just be a group effort as I will just add a link to be able to get the HTML that you can just copy and paste here.

I have a script that gets all the pitching and batter data, but I don't have it turned on because not sure what use it can do. If you guys have any suggestions whatsoever that helps capping baseball games, just let me know.

Thanks

looking at the standings page for the MLB section....wondering if you can have a column for the player's bankroll...MLB a 200 wager on say Yankees -150 your risking 300 to win 200 ... so just W/L record won't really justify everything.

That's a good point. I was actually thinking of having an ROI column and basing all picks off $100. Because I know not everyone will be willing to put their wager amounts in. Do you think that would work?

ya I think that could work. Only thing I can think of (don't know if it's a big deal but) even with totals they usually will have a vig on them like mine did today, if you can check that. I'm not sure how it'll grade them,, I put in the total under the spread column and the payout in the ML column and then threw in a wager amount.

Yea, I think that might be the most consistent way to actually manage some kind of ranking.

So if someone wins a bet at -280 on the Yankees ML, it would be an ROI of .357 and if someone wins at +140, it would be an ROI of 1.4. I think that would be the fairest and most accurate way to do it... unless it was mandated to submit a betting amt.

As for wager totals. I have a function that calculates the bet totals that take the spread and line in to acct. Not sure if when I grade the bets I'm adding the bet w/l amounts. I know if you add the bet to the your My Home total it grades it. But I will see after today. At the end of the day the data is in the DB, so it would take a simple query to update the accurate results.

And in the future, I might develop an easier script for handling over/under bets, but yea for right now, just put the line in the Line column and the over/under amt in the spread column.

Sweet man, thanks.

Awesome! Even though I lost my bet, the pick was graded automatically without me having to do a single thing. Self sustainability is almost here!!

Absolutely AK, using a base $100 per wager seems like the best way to track profitability. If you could add me, I would love to be part of your tracking.

Alright, you guys are all set up. The FAQ section on the site will detail more of what you need to know. But just use your RX username and "password" in the upper right to log on. You will be prompted to make your own password and you'll be set. GL!

Do u guys mind if I go back and put in my picks since the beginning of the season. I find this a better to track everything. Instead of having to keep updating my thread going back to the beginning of the season. Thanks,

I personally don't care as long as they were recorded on the RX. I however have the ability to add picks for previous games turned off. If people do not care about guys updating the first week or so of the season to catch up, I'll turn it on.

Guys bare with me on some of this stuff, have some work stuff I have to do today also, but I just whipped this baseball thing together and all the little nuances of it will work itself out. Like handling Postponed games, Write In games, or Double Headers (did not think of those while programming), lol. So if you see anything fishy, let me know.

I worked out the ROI issue, I'm pretty confident it is accurate. Based off $100 flat bets.
