2-0 (+4 units) Tuesday. Now at 8-13, -5.25 units

Colorado -1 (-111). 2 units. Erik Johnson of the White Sox had a very high contact game in his last outing. The Royals hit him hard and often. Even some of the outs were line drives. This kind of game can mess with a young pitcher's head. He begins to nibble, walking hitters, loses confidence in his quality pitches, doubts his fastball placement, etc. Now he faces the hottest hitting team in the mlb, in Coors Field. The Rockies are hitting .314 off of RHP, with a .495 slugging pct. They lost Tuesday and now have their possible new ace, Juan Nicasio, on the mound. Nicasio looks like he might have finally figured out how to command his pitches, walking only one his last start and pitching well in the spring(with only 6 BB in 23 IPs).

Atlanta -1 (+114). Ervin Santana is pitching his 1st game for the Braves. He has looked good in his spring outings and other warm-ups. He came out impressive last year as a Royal and I expect he'll want to do the same here. Besides, the Mets are a woeful hitting team right now(.178). Their best hitter at this point, Ike Davis, was somehow on the bench Tuesday???? Luckily, Bartolo Colon bailed them out. Zack Wheeler looked decent in his 1st start, but allowed the leadoff hitter on in all 6 of his innings. The Mets BP also is of little help, while Atlanta's is one of the best.

Great work yesterday. I like the play against my White Sox. But I just always hate betting against them...haha.

Detroit ML (-115). One unit- First 5 IP. Sanchez looked like he was over his injury concerns in his first start. Usually, with a quality pitcher, the 2nd start is a big improvement. Warm weather won't hurt either. Josh Beckett just seems to be broken down- ankle injury this week, rib injury, thumb injury, almost always out of shape. Beckett looked lousy last year and hasn't made the adjustment to being an older guy with a loss of velocity. I think this game, and maybe one more, might be the Dodgers getting a look-see at what he has left. My play says "not much". Detroit hitters have seen enough of him and have hit him hard. I like the first 5 because I don't trust the Tiger BP. With Puig out, and C Ellis out, the Dodger lineup is less formidable. The drop off from Ellis to the back ups, as a catcher, could also be a problem for Beckett.
