Has anyone had this happen to them? I am looking for tips and advice! Went to file taxes yesterday and accountant said "it was already filed".

ya youre fucked gonna take you a year or more to get them back you have to call IRS tell them about the theft then mail you're actual w2 to them along with your tax return its a joke had it happen to me 3 years ago you will also get an IP pin or whatever they call it for the next 5 years to file your taxes with so they know its you. however i will say the the past 2 years when filing my taxes i always do turbotax that my return has come in about 2 weeks or less. but the 1st time with identity theft it will take almost a year to get your money if not longer

Biggest pain in the ass. South Fla is the #1 hotbed for this so its common down here. Anyways, call the irs identity theft hotline 1-800-908-4490 and tell them what happened. You will have to send an affidavit with your return (form 14039) and attach a picture of your drivers license. You will have to paper file your return. This shit takes 6-9 months to process so if you are due a refund, you're gonna wait a while. If u owe $$, then u MUST pay by the 15th.
