Very good reading.

'A Star Player Accused, and a Flawed Rape Investigation'

A month before the rape accusation became public, the university’s victim advocate learned that a second woman had sought counseling after a sexual encounter with Mr. Winston, according to the prosecutor’s office. The woman did not call it rape — she did not say “no.” But the encounter, not previously reported, “was of such a nature that she felt violated or felt that she needed to seek some type of counseling for her emotions about the experience,” according to Georgia Cappleman, the chief assistant state attorney, who said she had spoken with the advocate but not with the woman.

They need to let sleeping dogs lie. Nothing in the article surprises me. Almost everything written is rehashed from previous information and isn't shedding any new light. The author should have gone in the direction of how local police and universities handle serious crimes committed by student athletes. And the notable case from a decade ago was Travis Johnson. Who by the way was acquitted by a jury. I can tell a lot more f'ed up stories about TPD than what was in that article.

The sad part of this is the article is Jaded... they mention ONLY that there was a video of her giving him a bj. They don't mention that she told her girlfriends she wanted to bang an athlete that night was her goal... or that her nickname was cleat chaser cause she only wants to sleep with athletes.... anyway... yes I went to fsu.. and rape is not a laughing mater at alll... but sh I t... you publish an article specifically MALIGNING. A kid that was found innocent... shame shame.. you need to be fair to both party's and NOT JUST FK THE KID IN THE ASS BECAUSE IT SUITS your shit ty article.

My sense is that the article set out to make the local pd look incompetent and FSU look negligent.

I wonder if the accuser will get any traction with the Federal Civil Rights angle.

It is curious as to why they published this today.

You still dont and never will get it. She can take on the entire FSU defense, that doesnt give anyone to jump in if she says no. Blaming the victim is the easiest way out, because we all know that girls always want it, even when they say no. Winston is not the first nor the last athlete to be protected on a college campus, doesnt mean its right

I was there 86-90. Cruised around often seeing Primetime in his convertible LeBaron. Lived at the Lakes and Indian Oaks..I spent many a fun night at CPA... I also dated a girl from Bullwinkles my senior year. That was a mistake. HAHA. I have tried to connect with a friend who lived in T town but didn't go to FSU, Rob Cartwright. What a great dude. He bartended at Studdabakers and always set us up and knew the sinkhole spots outside of town. We would often leave CPA at 2 with as many people that could fit in my car and go to Alligator Point to see the sunrise. Such good times. cheers and Go Noles

buried somewhere in this report is information on how the past President of FSU now current President of Penn State kept this incident quiet, I'll pull it up........

The athletic department had known early on that Mr. Winston had been accused of a serious crime.

Records show that Florida State’s athletic department knew about the rape accusation early on, in January 2013, when the assistant athletic director called the police to inquire about the case. Even so, the university did nothing about it, allowing Mr. Winston to play the full season without having to answer any questions. After the championship game, in January 2014, university officials asked Mr. Winston to discuss the case, but he declined on advice of his lawyer.

Officer Angulo has done private security work for the Seminole Boosters, a nonprofit organization, with nearly $150 million in assets, that is the primary financier of Florida State athletics, according to records and a lawyer for the boosters. It also paid roughly a quarter of the $602,000 salary of the university president, Eric Barron, who was recently named president of Penn State.

This knowledge should have set off an inquiry by the university. According to federal rules, any athletic department official who learns of possible sexual misconduct is required to pass it on to school administrators. Florida State declined to respond when asked if top officials, including the university president, had been informed of the encounter.

“Why did the school not even attempt to investigate the matter until after the football season?” said John Clune, another lawyer for the accuser.
