They are not being re-seeded so they are set up in brackets this year.

I don't know if any of the hockey people have done anything.

Yeah I did one, got Hawks winning it all. Didn't think I would like the new bracket format, but now that the playoffs are here, I have to to admit the NHL has made the Stanley Cup Playoffs even more exciting than it was before. Having all these rivalry match ups in the first round is very fun too watch.

I did the one on NHL.com. I picked the Red Wings, but I'm a homer. But, they definitely could win it.

Not much of a puck fan but why did they go from re-seeding to bracket?

I think re-seeding is way better for NHL. The regular season already means very little since home ice doesn't have a ton of value. Just penalizes the top teams as they don't get to play the weaker teams in rd 2 as much. Just my initial thought

They want to return to intra-divisional playoffs to build rivalries and interest.

And, seedlings don't mean as much in hockey, but getting hot does. If Pittsburgh and Detroit both win, do you think the Pens want to face the team that just beat Boston? No way.

I did one as well. I've got Patrick Roy lifting another cup over his head in Colorado.

Home Ice gives the Head Coach the ability to get the matchups he wants.

Like somebody else said, whoever gets hot right now has ability to win it all no matter what their seed.

Will it fit in the little basket on the front of his Hoveround?

Don't get the home ice gives coach ability to get matchup he wants comment?

I guess since NHL is about momentum so much that not getting to play the lowest seed possible every rd isn't as important as it is in other sports like the NFL or NBA (NBA brackets also but reseeding would be an advg for higher seeded teams)

Home Ice is HUGE

every face off the visiting team puts 5 players on the ice first then the home team can see who is on the ice and put out the 5 he wants

I swear I didn't even know that.

How much of an idiot am I for not knowing that? I feel like I've never heard it mentioned before but it seems like something anyone who has watched atleast 1 NHL game would know?

I watch 2-3 Bruins games a year max but it is usually at a bar or with friends. Would you say most casual fans know that re faceoff rules?
