One thing that can't be denied in the NHL is parity reigns supreme. There are two things we can take from the first few days of this post season. Goals are being scored in bunches and the games are tight. High scoring games is not the norm in the playoffs, although first round games do tend to have higher numbers than subsequent rounds. But the one constant in hockey is games are decided on a bounce of a puck, a deflection, or a fluke goal. Games are decided late and often in OT.

Last year the Rangers played Washington and Boston in the playoffs. 12 games were played. 8 of them were one goal games. Last year the Kings played St Louis, San Jose, and Chicago in the playoffs. 18 games played with 14 being decided by one goal.

Both Philadelphia and Los Angeles find themselves in a must win position today. Both teams looked embarrassingly horrible in their opener. These things have a tendency to right themselves in the following game. Both of these teams should come out with better efforts today. Strike that...will come out with better efforts. It still may not be enough to win but I believe it'll be enough to make the game come down to the wire. I'm parleying the puck line in both.

Philly +1.5 -215
L.A. +1.5 -255
+104

Also on the will go OT... for half unit each
Philly/NYR +290
LA/SJ +275
