Five Buffalo Bills cheerleaders, also known as the "Buffalo Jills," have a filed a lawsuit against the team, Citadel Communications (former manager of the cheerleaders) and Stejon Productions (currently manages the cheerleaders) for failing to pay them less than minimum wage for hundreds of hours of work.
The ex-Jills also claim they had to endure bizarre rules and off-the-field activities that sexually exploited them.
The former cheerleaders say they were given a rulebook that instructed them how to wash their intimate areas and how often to change tampons.
“We had always dreamed since we were little girls of becoming Buffalo Jills cheerleaders and unfortunately it was anything but a good experience,” former Jills cheerleader Alyssa U. told WIVB (video below).
“[She made us do] everything from standing in front of us with a clipboard and having us do a jiggle test to see what parts of our body were jiggling and if that was something she saw, then you weren’t performing at all,” added Alyssa U.
“We were the laughing stock of NFL cheerleaders. We deserve to be compensated just like everyone else."
The ex-Jills claim they weren't paid for working game days or bi-weekly practices, and only made a few hundred dollars each season.
According to NBCSports.com, the lawsuit claims the women had to buy 50-70 of the Jills swimsuit calendars and sell them during their off-time.
The women claim they had to pay $600 for their cheerleading uniforms as well as pay for their travel, hotel rooms, beauty supplies, gas and other expenses.
The cheerleaders also say they didn't get paid for the "Junior Jills" program, in which young girls paid $250 each to learn the basics of cheering from the Jills, notes DeadSpin.com.
At the Jills Annual Golf Tournament, certain cheerleaders allegedly had to wear bikinis and get soaked in a dunk tank by golfers.

The ex-Jills claim they were auctioned off to winning bidders and had to ride in the winning bidder's golf cart, which sometimes included the laps of the winning bidders themselves if there was no where else to sit.

The women also say they had to suit up in bikinis for an event called "The Man Show," which took place at a casino where they were paraded across the floor.

If they didn't like what was in the rulebook, then they had the option to leave/quit at the time...

Amen. The women saw the uniforms. Bullshit complaint. "Sexually exploited them".... are you kidding me? Fire all their butts and put a corps of Rosanne Barr look-a-likes out on the field to jiggle around in front of the crowd. That will teach em.

Oh, by the way..... A good way to help society. Whoever the attorney was that brought this action to court..... Should be castrated on national TV. Make the attorney pay all the associated fees. The tax payers have already paid enough by entertaining this filing for over two seconds!

So let me get this straight, if the rulebook contained potentially illegal things, it would be okay because they had the option to quit? Sorry, that is not how the law works.

Actually it's a very legitimate lawsuit IF they were not paid and IF they were forced to sit on peoples laps. ....But obviously the part about being paraded on stage and how to wash their intimate ares is frivolous.

But they certainly sensationalized the title of the article. If it had read Bills cheerleaders suing for non payment nobody would have read it.

They're packing up their POM-POM's

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Pack up the pom-poms in Buffalo, because the Bills will be playing without the support of their official cheerleaders this year.

Stephanie Mateczun, whose company manages the Buffalo Jills cheerleading squad, said Thursday she has suspended operations through at least the end of the season.

Only one reason to suspend operations and that's because they know that they're toast in court; hope the fuckheads get taken to the cleaners. They're the chicks' employers, not their Mom and Dad.

One of five former Buffalo Bills cheerleaders suing the team shared with HuffPost Live the specific details of the "jiggle test" that determined whether the women were physically prepared to perform on game day.

Alyssa U., a plaintiff in the lawsuit against the Bills, and her attorney spoke with host Caitlyn Becker on Thursday about the case, which alleges cheerleaders were underpaid for hundreds of hours of work at public appearances, where they were sexually objectified. The cheerleaders' bodies were also routinely evaluated by a coach who documented their flaws, Alyssa said.

"One week prior to the game, we were to dress in our uniforms and stand before our coach, who had a clipboard in her hand, and we had to face forward, turn around, face back to the front and do about 10 jumping jacks. And from there, she would write down on her notepad what parts of our bodies jiggled," she said.

The next day, the women would receive an email with checkmarks that indicated what body parts -- including "butt, thighs, back, stomach" -- they needed to work on.

"If a girl got two checks in these areas, she was warned that she was not going to be field ready, and if there were three check marks, then she was not performing, she was sitting the next game," Alyssa said.

The most amazing thing about National Football League cheerleaders is that for the countless hours they put in on practice, appearance and weight control, their salary is, to a first approximation, nothing. They get paid a double-digit figure for each game they perform at. All the hours they put in getting ready to perform? Nothing.

From the point of view of the organizations, this is a great deal! It’s very easy to see why they would enjoy having young lovelies provide their labor for free. But why the women go along -- heck, line up nine deep for the honor of doing so -- is harder to understand.

They don't do it for the money
