I think the Clippers acted like fools and screwed themselves

they should be thinking we're playing for ourselves, we're playing for our fans, we're playing for our families, we're playing for a national TV audience and trying to win an NBA championship.

instead they talked about forfeits and protests and I'm sorry, that's not the right approach mentally

some of the highest income most fortunate people on earth should not be playing some victim card

you're not playing for the owner, you could probably care less about his happiness before this weekend, you're playing for your own well being

if an injustice occurred, justice will follow

everyone needs to chill, IMHO, albeit it appears I'm in the minority

Agree with what you're saying about the inside out warmups, but as far as the game, it's not like they laid down. Golden State came out with incredible energy and just punched them in the mouth. It's not easy to win 2 playoff road games in a row. So I don't think they just said "fuck it we'll just lose", GS was going to win this game even if this distraction didn't happen IMO.

How long do you think they talked about protesting and forfeiting in that private meeting? Probably about 10 seconds, its just something the media ran with because it sounded cool.

Most of these guys have been on LAC < 3 years, I doubt they even care about the incident TBH. Probably alrealy know who Sterling is....

My guess is the players already have the mindset you are advocating willie. Just can't really be like "yeah we don't care" because it sounds bad.

Yeah, like I said I doubt any of those millionaires are losing sleep tonight because some old rich white dude got caught with his pants down.

I think the shirts inside out thing was corny but they probably just wanted to do something and they weren't gonna do anything more than that. People saying they were "distracted" or "had the wrong mindset" is just narrative IMO.

I concur with most of what you said about the owner, but they did go out of their way with their pregame protest which can only distract them mentally. It's certainly unlikely to motivate them, and it certainly appears they did not come out ready to play. When I heard about the pregame protest just minutes before tip, I bet $ 400 on GS in a game I was staying away from.

I also think the media, especially the NBA media, may be making this thing a lot bigger than it is to the players

they say "we're playing for ourselves and our fans, and we'll let justice run it's course. If true, it's unfortunate, but we can't be concerned with that at this time."

Sure they can. Their owner and the person who signs their checks thinks of them as basically property and beneath him. Someone like Doc Rivers and Chris Paul. It must be demoralizing to go out there knowing who their boss is.

it is only an opinion, and it is my narrative, but I was thinking this as it was happening and before they played the game

maybe I just got lucky

I doubt someone as accomplished and successful as Doc or CP3 is gonna be that soft to let Sterlings comments get to them. A lot of asshole bosses out there, if everyone let it effect their work performance there would be a lot less productivity.

Willie is right if it got to them then that is on them but I don't really think it did from watching the game. At that level even the slightest altering in mindset can yield vastly different results though.

They might be playing for the city but legally they are employed by this guy who benefits from their work and ultimately he represents the organization and these coaches and players are playing under him. Even doc said he might not be back next year. Talking about that during the playoffs? That cant be good. Has to be demoralizing to them to be represented and "owned" by this guy who views them as inferior people.

Don't think you'll ever see someone like Doc Rivers or Chris Paul say that though, even if they did think it.

I see your point but its not like its totally out of nowhere, pretty much everyone knew Sterling was a bizarre character for awhile. Always tough to measure stuff like emotion and mindset with players.

My first inclination is usually to think most of them don't let it effect them too much but at this level against a team like GS, any altering of mindset/confidence could yield vastly different results as I said before.
